http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrVsO1IIZxE&feature=related Video here ^ Microsoft announced they have only sold a whopping 1.5 million units since it's launch in 2005. Since this January, it has only sold 72,000 units. If Pyre was still on I'd ask him what the deal was. If I could give my opinion on this, it would seem that most American games (COD, Medal of honor, Halo) simply don't have that depth and difficulty that most Japanese games have. What's your opinion?
I think it probably has something to do with story telling. They tell different stories there and tell them in different ways. It's why the xbox was so popular here and Japanese games are starting to die out. That's my guess anyway.
IT'S BECAUSE OUR GAMES LACK TENTACLES, HENTAI, SPIKY HAIR, AND BOYS THAT LOOK LIKE GIRLS. THAT IS ALL.
From what I understand there just aren't that many Japanese developers on XBox. Imagine how well PS3 would do in the US if there were only Japanese style games for it.
I like this answer, but its not entirely correct. Playstation supports japanese game releases better. It's simply culture. We sometimes explore other cultures, like the massive anime fanbase in America. This is why Japan gamers even get xboxes at all most likely. Otherwise, they really have no reason to buy a single one, let alone 75k of them.
