mmh, no i havent activated any of them..when i did i got massive lag so no no...also when i put game up to uber the texture also loads a bit slowly..not sure if fps gets lower but maybe. not sure what it might be. works fine in beginning of games if planets are small, but more units more lag..and if its a big planet with alot of ppls it might be unplayabale thx for all the help
virtual texturing is very slow at the moment, on my system using uber, high or low makes the textures draw slowly. on my system medium on virtual texturing and low on shadows yields best results. But im currently using an intel hd 4000 gpu, so it not being affected by whatever the ATI issue is
i wont be satisfied until i do more than help , i want to solve your issues (may not be possible at this point in time, but i'll sure as hell give it my best, if someone didn't help me, i would be in same situation you are, i see it as only fair to pass on the help if i can)
im going to ask SXX to see if he can help. He got me into the game, he very very good at understanding pa log file and dxdiag file and spotting issues. once again it may be an ATI thing that can't be bypassed at the moment but im sure SXX will know.
i appreciate all the help i can get but im not sure it can be fixed in current state..i just hope the devs have the ability to improve it
im sure dev's will improve it, now we have your dxdiag and pa log file, dev's have more of an idea what those issues could be without them they can do nothing but guess what the issue is , so you have been AWESOME help too
i sent SXX a message asking him to review this thread and see if he can assist or let us know if it not going to work at this point in time when he come online, im sure he will
last suggestion is try this driver if it installs http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx its 13.1 version of catalyst 10/10/2013 your using a driver from 9/5/2013 its a beta driver so keep a copy of your current driver for rollback if things go bad
I think most of the performance issues will eventually be fixed by launch, but I know what you mean with other games that have totally flopped at launch when things should have been fixed durring the beta's and always got the excuse its a beta, and then come to find out the final retail game was exactly the same as the beta. Some good examples of this was Worms Revolution / Worms Clan Wars / Arma III / Planetside 2 / Dawn Of Fantasy / Sim City just to name some recent ones. So I understand where you're coming from Qosmius and I'm a lil skeptical about the final state of the game, but we shall see, a lot of the server side lag stuff is worked on constantly i'm sure because every single game we play right now is through Uber servers, and every game is going to be logged their end too.
When you'll play next time can you please use Ctrl+P and check your actual FPS on start of game and in moment when you feel "lags". Post numbers here. What exactly settings you using? Is there any difference between low and high (especially shadows)? Also when you in-game and feel that performance is low please try to toggle UI using Ctrl+U and check what FPS you have with and without UI.
Max Powerz's last attempt and hopefully THE ULTIMATE ATI fix replace the shaders in this dir with the ones in the zip file posted here C:\Program Files (x86)\Planetary Annihilation\PA\media\shaders my intel chipset fails to compile these shaders in the zip file, so i deleted the code out of them i put them back into my game and , it runs the same. so maybe if your ATI card is compiling these shaders, they could be whats causing the in game framerate issues and bugs. replacing the shader files with the ones i have posted should disable some post processing effects the game has, like HDR, FXAA, and some luminance and material prelighting. (make sure you have HDR and FXAA off in game or screen will be black) the game will run fine, and it should look just like the game shot's in my thread. if replacing the shader files damages your game (it shouldn't there only post processing effects) just load the uber launcher and press verify files, or verfy game files in steam launcher, it will rollback the original shaders. hopefully this will be a good temporary fix until dev's fix the shaders.
if your PA install isn't in that location try here. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Planetary Annihilation\PA\media\shaders
TADA (NEW! Performance Booster Mod!) I have made a Mod to attempt to help improve in game performance on some machines. It disables some "Pre-lighting" and "Post Processing Effect" shaders. https://forums.uberent.com/threads/rel-performance-booster.53233/ (Slowbars Mod!) This mod fixes some UI bottle necking and helps improve framerates! https://forums.uberent.com/threads/rel-slowbars-54357.50349/#post-772764 Both of these together + setting your desktop to a lower resolution, Should fix your issues It has helped 2 other ATI users so far, and one person using a GTX560, so its a good universal fix for some broken code oh oh and TADA!! (Fix for ATI cards ,, Windows - Desktop) http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=382660 (Thank-you to Bradaz85 for a link to a BETA driver with better OpenGL compatibility) (Fix for ATI cards ,, Windows - Mobile) http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...ress-enduro-modified-drivers-13-11-beta3.html (Thank-you to Bradaz85 for a link to a BETA driver with better OpenGL compatibility, not sure how many mobile chipsets this will be compatible with!!) Before using the BETA ATI drivers download a copy of the current ones or have a rollback driver in case there are any issues!!! (when the drivers are officially released i will link to the official ones on ATI's support site)
All good i hope this works and you get to ENJOY playing PA sorry i'm in a smiley mood, i have helped a few people today and it feels good
if you want we can go in a game togheter and compare if you get lag and i dont and compare fps and such, just an idea
i would love to play but i use prepaid internet (3g pocket wifi) so game lags like hell, it cost me $12 per gig of data too. so i only load the game up long enough to test fixes and stuff or to look at the new units and features, i have played about 10 games in total for the few months that i have had access. so i spend my time helping others and developing fixes to get others into the game when i go back to using my landline internet (after its fixed) i will happily play
