Why don´t you do compareable sales on your own stores, but on others?

Steam offers DRM, sure, but PA is not using it. After downloading PA you can sign out and even delete Steam and PA will still work.

How can you say that? It's ridiculous to say being DRM free (and I use DRM very lovely considering how Steam handles it) is more important than PA being funded, you're saying you'd rather the company die than have an OPTIONAL one sign in DRM. I say optional because you don't even need to buy it from Steam.

That is true but you would effectively break your steam agreement by doing that and loosing your subscription to PA of course if valve knew what you are doing. And I am emphasizing subscription since most people don't have a clue that they only subscribe to a game on steam and don't actually buy the game and the subscription right can be rescinded by steam without any reason to give.

No, he is right. Steam gathers information on all the software you have installed, what you are doing with it, what hardware you have and which files you have and transmits that data to steam constantly -> its in the steam agreement.

Nope the game is DRM free; you can even share the game files/ .exe between friends and play LAN.

Maybe so, but that's not Spyware by definition.

    spy·ware
    ˈspīwer/
    noun
    1. software that enables a user to obtain covert information about another's computer activities by transmitting data covertly from their hard drive.
Besides it can't do that whilst you're offline. (Which steam let's you do btw)

WTF is this conversation going on right now.

As a video game developer you need to make money. Without selling the game on Steam you won't make a sustainable amount of money.

    End of story.

No you wouldn't. There is no requirement for you to be logged into Steam or even have Steam on your computer for you to play Steam games in the Steam Subscriber Agreement. All that is required, and I quote:
Says nothing about being required to be logged in or having the Steam software.

There is a lot more down there that specifies what you need to have installed and what not so you need to read the whole agreement.

You forgot this part: Steam and your Subscription(s) require the automatic download and installation of Software onto your computer.

PA is on steam because people asked for it on this very forum. Uber plans to support PA as long as revenue comes in.;)

No, I didn't. That is the beginning of the same paragraph I was quoting. That bit merely say you need to install Steam in order to install games bought from Steam. Not that you need to keep Steam on the computer once you've downloaded the game.

No, that depends on the game... A lot of game servers are hosted by valve, namely Company of Heroes.

But how is that different to Uber hosting servers for multiplayer? I guess Uber have DRM too then, so it shouldn't be on the Uber store either ;)

That's not true as long as you legally have the game attached to your account.

All I've claimed is that 1) PA doesn't use Steams RDM so you can log out or delete Steam after downloading PA from Steam and PA will still work, and 2) doing so is not against the Steam Subscriber Agreement. Nothing else.

The difference is that PA has a local server, so Uber hosting servers is kind of irrelevant.

PA still has an offline server, even on Steam.

Also many many games that have servers hosted by valve also have dedicated servers. Ex: Tf2 and CS.
