The hallmark of a good assassin is one you don't know is there until you're in the grapple animation.

Being next to your firebase won't help too much as a support if that firebase -needs- to go. If a sword sin gets a backstab on you and smoke bombs, they will survive, you'll die, and they'll finish off your firebase from range with shurikens.

Or if they can't approach you directly they will probably just start launching clips of crit shurikens.

The best way to survive against sins as a Support is to have some support of your own. If you're out alone, you will be picked off. If your firebase is supporting an actual player push or you have others backing you up, a lone assassin won't be able to accomplish much.
