What kind of content will we see here?

See what they'll do is watermark any images they post with a custom watermark script that adds a unique identifier for each forum viewer - that way if a picture that was posted here floats up in the public eye, then they'll know exactly who posted it, and we can then nail him to the wall.

Or ban him from the backer forums.

49k different custom watermarks is pretty hard to get to generate. Just the raw space to store that many different graphics, is pretty hard to do.

Use a cyrpto secure random id as a filter over the image. (ie. replace a particular selection of pixels in such a way as to not effect the overall output of the image but a programmatic check will work out who posted it)

The only problem would be having to apply the filter all the time....

I think simply having this forum is effective all on its own. The idea is that it's a kickstarter perk, a window into the behind the scenes stuff. Backers are naturally more interested in what's happening than anyone else.

Even when something does slip out (oh, it will, don't pretend it won't), it comes with an inherent disclaimer that it's not meant for the public. That gives much more freedom to show off strange/fun things, comment on them, and scribble down the next plan of attack.

I certainly look forward to some of the more spectacular bugs that are the inevitable result of taming a game.

Personally, I think it would be pretty simple to have a script that only shows content when viewed from the forum.

And it would also be pretty simple to circumvent said scripts to spread it for all the world to see.
