Well it doesn't have to be as good at straight up combat as a full battlestation. Heck it could have very little weaponry at all so you would be forced to escort it.

So what does it do that a half dozen Unit-Cannons cant do for cheaper? (Sending Fabbers and escorting assault bots to form a fast beachhead)

It drops heavier things, can include nuke/arty defenses for said things, and gives the other guy far less time to react to a hostile base on his planet.

    Overpowered.

It can do "everything". It's no different than the SupCom FatBoy turned up to 11.

Maybe. But then how are you going to invade and conquer a planet that belongs to another player. He has a massive army and economy. You have.... one commander/builder. You need some sort of massive planetary invasion unit to make a beach head.

Besides the fatboy wouldn't be so bad if you took away its guns.

If you have only that then you've lost. Why did you ever let your opponent get THAT far ahead of you?

I generally dislike "Rubber-Band" style game balance. Makes me feel like nothing I do has any real consequence.

Oh, and also. If you DID get that far behind you could huck an asteroid at him. Same principle.

How are you behind if you have three planets and they have two? Should an asteroid be the only way to deal with a fortified planet? Just landing mass quantities of units just seems a bit underwhelming.

Okay, first stop changing the variable if you actually want an answer. Second, how is "landing massed units" any different to what your monstrosity is doing?

We already HAVE a unit that deploys others directly from one planet to the next and they even come in little drop-pods already. It's the Unit-Cannon.

aaaand that has been enough off topic for me. AdiĆ³s.

Oh stop complaining when I expand the scope of PA to the scope of PA.

As for how is it different, well, it drops heavier things, can include nuke/arty defenses for said things, and gives the other guy far less time to react to a hostile base on his planet. So yeah, I'd say that its different than shooting lots of small bots at an LZ.

Too off-topic. Start a new thread.

We were only discussing size. Gameplay is irrelevant, it was purely a visual scale thing, because Uber didn't know what it would do.

Anyways, IMO experimental big units should have interesting weaknesses and abilities. For example, some experimental units may be comparatively more powerful than a lot of tanks for the same price, but have an obvious flaw (for example, only being able to shoot forwards so being weak towards flanking, or having a particular movement style limiting it to being used defensively).

Even better, having interesting abilities instead of being a gun on legs. Right now asteroids and the space rockets fit this role pretty well, so I don't see why it couldn't be expanded to land or water units.
