Excluding skills and endorsements the Tank is the direct counter to Assassins.

I was about to post this myself. Gold or Silver Armour, and L3 passive can survive grapples from behind.

One match, three of them tried to gank me; I rung out one, charged the second and then set her ablaze, after being grappled by each. Was in the process of killing the third when I finally succumb to the frenzied hack-and-slash.

Fortunately, a friendly Assault trundled along and cleaned her up.

But the trick with them is to set them on fire - flames aren't invisible. :D

The solution to this I say: Is to nerf the assassin completely.
    Repalce the following:
    Their dagger with sticks.
    Their sword with a plank.
Their cloak with a white carpet with eye-holes cut out.
    Their Dash with Rollerblades.
Their Smoke Bomb with actual smoke bombs and not flash bangs.

    *Sarcasm Boost!*

    Anyways, all seriousness.......
Give us a break already... Some of us are actually capable.
I'm pretty sure 70%-90% of this community would rather not have snipers in the game at all.

I'm not saying that all of them are useless that's not at all what i meant but in these both games i have seen so many players playing as sniper and having something like 4 kills in the whole game. Sniper is the class which so many new players pick and won't do any good to their team with it. For example yesterday i played one match and we were getting pwnd so hard and enemy was at our moneyball already. I look at the scoreboard and there are 2 snipers in our team with less than 5 kills and they won't change in to any other class even when the enemy is already destrying that moneyball.

I find your changes intriguing. I think we can reach a common ground.

    1. Dagger -> Pointy sticks
    2. Sword -> Plank with rusty nails
    3. The new white carpet cloak causes Pros to freak out thinking they saw a ghost.
    4. Level 3 dash upgrades to rocket skates
    :D

This could happen and the sniper players would still complain about how OP the assassins are.

I don't doubt that the tank's intended to be the counter to assassins, but they aren't very good at it for one primary reason: other than the same opportunity of just stumbling across a weak and/or stupid assassin, a tank can only really attack an assassin if he can find her, and most of the time, that involves being grappled first.

On top of it, a tank has to run with gold or silver armor to survive the backstab, and even then, there's a good chance the assassin can get away.

Don't get me wrong, I get a lot of assassin kills on my tank, but that's because:

    A) let's be honest, most of the people playing the assassin are blindingly stupid and will run straight at you and face-stab you,

    B) I run silver armor for absolutely no other reason than I'll be constantly killed by assassins if I don't, and

    C) I start mashing E the second one grapples me.

Now, if the flamethrower worked more like the TF2 pyro's - slightly longer range, more burn duration/damage, and the tank didn't move in agonizingly slow motion and was able to actively hunt and kill assassins, I'd buy that it was a legitimate counter, but he can't. She's too fast, he's too slow, and the jet gun's range, proneness to lag and very low burn duration don't even effectively drop them out of stealth. The best the tank can do against an assassin is effectively punish one for trying to kill him if he's running the right combination of armor and upgraded passive. That's not a counter.

tl;dr: As it is now, the tank's just a hard target for assassins, not a bonafide counter.

Tank doesn't need any armor to survive a back stab, he just needs to jump.

I think the after burn effect should do one third of the damage per tick it does now, but last 50% longer, the idea being that it renders the assassin's cloak useless, but they'd have more time to get back to a support (or find a churro)

A counter doesn't need to kill - it just needs to make it piss the fook off!

Tanks do that, rather well. Set an Assassin on fire, and the wisest action for said Assassin is to dash back home. Blossoming an Assassin that doesn't have armour (or overheal) is a guaranteed kill.
