If the 360 forums get killed the competitive scene of a handful of people will die off faster. But there is nothing but trolling and trash talking on the forums anyway with the occasional good post. If you want my opinion mnc drama is gets old after a while and it becomes the same old thing so locking it wouldnt be that big of a deal to me. In the end its your call and keep in mind if you lock the 360 forums people might just start posting unwanted things in the SMNC forums so also try to think of the pros and cons

Admittedly, there is a bit of trolling and trash talking here. I also see that the bulk of the remaining members here are die-hard fans of this game and are members of the competitive community. We trash talk and flame each other, but it's all in good fun.

Some people don't see it that way. For example, TurnTables (Sorry Tables). When I poke fun at him, I will do it the same way as I do anyone else here. Unfortunately, other members who poke fun at him do it just to see if they can make him flip out (which inevitably happens). It's just my flavor of humor, but if I see it making someone uncomfortable, I stop. However, a little trash talk and playful flaming is what's keeping this community alive. What's left of it at least.

I can certainly see that shutting down a message board for a game you no longer support might look good in your eyes, but don't forget the fact that you're still selling copies of MNC on the 360 and there are new members signing up here every day. In fact many of the members of this community are actually helping you sell this game to their friends.

If you really feel like locking down the 360 section, go ahead, it's ultimately your call. Just don't make that decision based on Jessep's skewed perception of trolling and trash talk - much of that is done in good fun.

IP bans should do the trick. It's very suprising the amount of people who threaten to use proxies but don't actually have a clue how to use them.

Not to be rude, but from what I gather from that statement, you're out of touch with this side of the forums. It seems more that these forums are just part of some 'rounds' made everyday. 90% of this community? 20% seems like a much more believable number.

^ A prime example of this community as a whole. Jokingly insulting other players while complimenting those who deserve it. I firmly believe that your lack of connection and interaction with the 360 community has biased your opinion on this matter. These forums are a place to gather and shoot the breeze with other 360 members, learn important information regarding tournament schedules and scrims, and for new players to make a name for themselves, sure I got trolled a little bit in the beginning but I didn't let that stop me from enjoying this community as a whole.

You shut down this forum your pretty much closing the door on your 360 fan base which still sells games and is alive and well on the market place. Not that the game is getting anything new etc.. look at pac man for example.

Its been on xbox live since launch almost and despite how old and dry it is, the game still sells to its loyal fans.

The people who still post here are the ones who still play the game and enjoy it no matter what the flaming, trolling, banning, etc. They are the ecosystem of the forum.

Heck i can't even remember when the last time deadeye posted here but when he did/does everyone jumps on him and it causes things to run. When hes banned people pick on the next person in line. You ban them then it moves to another.

right now it seams turntables is what took in place of deadeye and people are attacking him because the reaction they get.

So in other words banning/closing/locking the forum is basically cutting off a branch of your fan base.

You see, this forum is supposed to be for the whole Xbox community not just 20 hardcore fans who enjoy trolling each other all day long. What we want is a forum where a new player can post to get help, find a team, make new friends. That doesn't work if you guys troll every thread like that with inside jokes like: 'Send me a FR, my GT is ****.' I guess he isn't coming back and neither is the 2nd player on his team.

I don't care if you want to troll the living **** out of each other, do it on TEG. That was the basic idea behind TEG, wasn't it? A mod free zone where you can do whatever you like. This is the official forum and it should be a place for every Xbox player who needs help or looks for others to play with.

Don't troll the new guys. The active Xbox forum community is small enough already, it doesn't need help to get smaller still.

This is a prefect example how you keep the community alive. But if new players see a bunch of the other kind of threads they are probably not even going to bother to make an account.

Ok you're essentially questioning shutting down the 360 forums due to some bad posters? Since when has any forum shut down from that? I just find it hilarious that you guys are considering shuttin' down shop because about 10-20 posters occasionally troll each other with over-used jokes in a tight knit community.

You know what I think a GOOD forum would do? Have a moderator? Enforce said rules? Appoint warning's and bans for serious offenses? Actually use the tools you laid out before yourself? Isn't that your job to actually keep these forum's clean or in a manner that you like?

It's insulting to posters like Shammas who have written amazing guides for new players, as well as hosting training camps and giving out lessons. It's insulting for posters like Wildman, who will single handedly spent a lot of time to set up a Draft Tournament, despite the previous ones failing. It's insulting to posters like Chron and myself who have formed and maintained a competitive private match scene since just about when Brink came out. Ton's of people came and went from that point till now. We've helped and welcomed plenty of new players, and continue to do so as I write this post.

You think we're hurting the community? What community? Not the ones you guys built, support, or moderate. How are you gonna tell me bad posters here are hurting a community that you guys 1) Don't support and 2) have done nothing to bring in new players or anything to keep this active?

You know who does try to help bring in new players? The poster's you guys are questioning. Go look at how many GT's have messages in their motto's/bio's saying "want to improve? need help in MNC? go to uberent.com" God you guys are so misinformed and out of touch with our community.

You want to know the best thing to ever happen to MNC 360 community? 100% it's private matches, and I'm not saying privates > pubs or private match players > pub players. It's the fact that we stick 12 high caliber players together in one match, and allow the new players to play peacefully in pubs. No more pub stomping, especially considering we sometimes play matches for hours a day. We're doing some manual "matchmaking" options here finally balancing out skill and rank level, letting players learn at their own pace in pubs. Something that has hurt the community since day one, with the terrible team balancing system. Most of the 20 hardcore forum members are the ones that help contribute to this.

I constantly try to include anyone willing to play, and a lot of people aren't. However, random toon just recently joined this forum. Why? because I saw him in a pub, and asked if he wanted to give privates a shot, despite being a new player in a sea of veterans who know the meta game + glitches. I took a new player and gave him a shot hoping to increase this ever dying community, and will give him whatever tips I know to help increase the skill level of the community.

Do you want me to be a moderator here on the 360 forums? **** since nobody else want's it I'll do it if means keeping this forum's alive.

I think this is a pathetic point in shutting down the forums, and am insulted once again by uberent. Xbox community, I apologize if my post hurts our cause, but the truth does hurt. If it's a matter of image on the company, then I can't begin to point out the irony.

Now it seems like the problem isn't even trolling or inside jokes to forum regulars, but rather the lack of acceptance of new players.

While I won't disagree that trolling new players is malpractice, I see no reason to justify solving this problem by taking this medium away from both the current fanbase and its future one.

As much as I can tell that you're concerned about the size of the 360 community, smashing it to pieces certainly won't solve anything, it just won't.

The 360 forums are still a place for newer players to become acquainted with the game and its playerbase. Arguably, viewtopic.php?f=20&t=15328 was slightly derailed but some of the community members such as Tom and Chron did aid in welcoming them.

I believe all of us would benefit if we had another 360 moderator.

Do you really want TEG's site to be the only representation for the 360 fan base? I found that site first when I was looking for MNC info. No offense to anyone, but to be completely honest, there are things there I wish I could have unseen.

I really enjoy this site, and the community as a whole. Sure people tease here and there but the good far out weighs the bad. Those who are here because they love the game and want to keep it going are your best advertisement. Even if your new focus is Super MNC those of us who talk up the site to our friends on xboxlive are bringing a captive audience for you to market to.
