What argument? There was no argument. He was just saying how he thought my opinion was equivalent to that of a primordial caveman. Essentially, he was being the typical snarky EU subscriber that he is.
Tatsu shouldn't even be allowed in this discussion because all he does is ride his high horse until someone starts fighting back. Like me.

Your views aren't even based in reality. Get out of the mud and live life. My god.

    Food for thought.

"The use of deadly force must be in response toreasonable fear of serious, imminent bodily harm to oneself or others. " Laws.

"The law regarding self-defense is going to vary from state to state, but generally speaking, deadly force may not be used in defense of property (property can be replaced, lives cannot), and the use of deadly force must be in response toreasonable fear of serious, imminent bodily harm to oneself or others. See Expanded self-defense laws. Further, there is also a distinction between "stand your ground" and "duty to retreat" jurisdictions; in the former category (nearly half of all states), an individual does not have to attempt to retreat before responding with deadly force where self-defense is justifiable. In a minority of states, the use of deadly force in self-defense is only permitted if an individual cannot safely avoid the risk of harm or death, such as by running away. And finally, there are a handful of states that are in between, imposing a duty of retreat in only certain circumstances."

No in the US you cannot shoot somebody simply because they're getting on your lawn, or they look scary. You must actually be fearing for your life. So in the case of the old man having his things being stolen, and shooting the kid in the back as he was walking away... That'd be illegal in the US. (If he'd done it earlier while possibly having his life threatened it'd be different.)

Either weapons being banned or not, personally it doesn't seem either really effects crime. So I'm indifferent.

Yes, the problem in America with gun violence isn't actually guns. The problem is elements of the culture.

There is more than one "problem" and they all impact on each other.

I'm not saying that guns are one in of themselves, or that guns are a root cause here. But let's not throw around absolutes such as "the problem is". America, like a lot of countries, has a lot of problems. The sheer size of the USA compounds this, as does the widespread caching of lethal weaponry.

Because while the ability to possess arms in of itself isn't such a crazy idea, any de-escalation plan involving curtailing twenty semi-automatics being kept in a garage would be forcefully impacted by the fact that officials would have to visit a site with twenty semi-automatics to hand.

As per usual, these problems will only be solved over generations, and that requires solid parenting with proper moral principles. Preferably based in something concrete - like the Bible. Good parenting is conspicuously absent these days.

Because a book that says to kill people for planting different crops next to each other should definitely be used to guide our morals. o_O

lol xD I love how you indent "reasonable" as if that helps to alleviate how vague that statement is x'D

again judging by this. mered could have justified shooting down everyone he crossed in the street that day with this little edict. it's legal text oversights like these that lead to billionaires being able to get away with anything.

Some american students say the German 'free' education is great ;)

I agree on better parenting that should teach better moral standards, but I hope that part is a trollish joke.
I mean you do know this right?

I don't have any problem with people following whatever Religion they want as their private thing, but Religion should have no say in anything politics. Mixing Religion and Politics is a red line. Do not cross. Danger.
If you want a basis for your moral standards, as a basis try a more recent text.

I'll base my morals in the Bible, thank you. They are perfectly valid in today's environment.
I use my beliefs as a foundation for my principles, which help me make decisions politically. None of what you just said is relevant to this discussion.
No, I only justify shooting people who:

    A) trespass without permission
    B) have clear malicious intent against your family or your belongings.

That's it. Quit trying to bullshit like a politician.

Yes, books advocating for burning prostitutes alive and stoning rebellious children are totally valid in today's society.

Stoning rebellious children? Where is that in the new testament or leviticus? Quit talking about things which you know little about, Stuart.
Taking individual verses out of context and stating them as fact does not make them true.

This is a politics thread. It's heated enough without adding religion to the mix.

Nothing can or will come from talking about it here besides lots and lots of hate/circlejerking.

We live through the patronage of our holy emissary, the Flying Spaghetti Monster. His noodly appendages bless us with fortune as we walk the curved pasta roads of life.

We had someone choose the flyin spaghetti monster as apatron during a DnD Session.

He used his newfound power to cocoon a fellow in spaghetti to protect him from the halforcs in a bar. Unfortunately for him, spaghetti is very tasty :)

Nah I am not demanding a pointless circle discussion about the topic. I've made clear what my stance is, but again after stating everyone opinions there is no further point to circle around, as all sides won't change their mind from just a discussion on the internet anyway.
That is the end of all discussion in a thread like this. Everyone leaves thinking they are right.

Telling everyone how wrong they are however is great to procrastinate from studying for exams. lol
