This. Some indication of where the economy is headed would be very helpful.

Y'know, there ought to be some kind of diagram / use case designer to put a chart on the very first post of an idea - "This is the idea, these are the inputs, these are the requirements, here are the outputs"... along with answers to edge case scenarios dreamt up by the rest of the forum.

Agreed. I am also waiting for real details about this "new" flow rate economy system. This post says it is a bit different from TA, but doesn't really say how or why.

Now you are selling uber short, forums pretty much come with a "don't listen to us" disclaimer. Information flow should be one directional in most cases, while there might be valuable input from the community (uber cannon), our word isn't binding. And with stuff posted here it's always going to be pick and choose for the developers, there might be good ideas around. Granted, a lot of the suggestions posted here make me cringe and want to correct people, but i don't (normally, i'm well aware i'm engaging now).

You keep on saying that we should trust developers and not worry, but then again you don't trust them to do the simplest of things: Tell good advice from bad...

Well neutrino stated that priority would be orthogonal to what uber is working on.

To me that means not the opposite (would be 180°), but something that rather would not be effected by prioritizing.
    Some imagines from that:
    *Pay first get stuff then.
*some sort of timelined eco (graphs(linear/complex/discrete))

Perhaps you could tease us with information about the purpose of the change.
Which point does it try to improve/solve?

    Well then let's speculate:

So it's going to make the system friendlier for newcomers and it's not prioritisation although it does not interfere with it either.

So i'm guessing a presentational improvement.

Maybe some way to make it easier to determine bottlenecks in your planned construction.

While i can think of ways to make that easier (like a timeline prediction based approach) that wouldn't make it easier to grasp for newcomers. So basically, i have no idea.

But i'm excited to find out soon...

    ... The simplest of things?

Telling good advice from bad is far from simple or easy if the one giving the advice is persuasive enof.

Since were the ones paying for the game and the ones that will make it a success or failure (we as in "customers" in general), we do have some persuasive power on our side.

So dont dismiss "telling good advice from bad" as a simple thing, its not.

As the inventor of this mysterious change he definitely has to do that at some point :p

Uber take much time you need to explain it cause some one would find some thing not explained or find a double meaning and run with it.

i seen what happened with the commander abilities thread how much time wasted on that

I guess the change will be, no matter how many ressources you get, the enemy will always get the same amount. :D

Does "I regret ever telling you guys" count as a write up? :p

On a serious note (speculation is very serious), I think it's along the lines of making things more obvious i.e. like removing, tweaking or bringing out into the light the mechanic of the hidden build point resource that was used to control build speed. Yes I claim it's a resource that's generated by construction units and factories.

If I'm worried, it's because it almost went bad in the commander's situation, the idea is solid and the commander is the ideal place to implement such a system, but because people had knee jerk reactions Neutrino seriously considered cutting it for that reason.

To experience it read this thread then this thread.

So far, looks like for now the abilities are staying, but it was a close thing.

I got it there will be future ressources. You can spend them now but they will be used in the future. You need futuredeposits of energy and mass where to store them while they travel backwards in time. If you spent to many in the past so there are now negative future ressources, by random some things can happen:

#The negative ressources travel backwards in time and change the future what then is now (you may lose battle afterwards; you may had units you never had now; units killed by those never existing units will now be unkilled an be maybe in your face)

#The negative future ressources will turn into antimater and just kill the whole solar system.

    #Your head explodes.

Scathis, honestly many thanks. I think we all appreciate the level of information coming from the devs.

I've just had a primary read, and I like it. It looks like Energy is only used for powering things (makes sense!) and therefore, units no longer have a direct energy cost, rather an indirect cost associated with running the factories/engineers involved in building the unit. Have I read that correctly?

Also, could I ask what will happen to buildings that require energy but have a binary state, such as radar, in an energy drain situation? They can't function in a prorated fashion, so do they alternate between on/off states? With the percentage either way determined on the severity of the energy overspend?

    Edit. Spotted a typo:
Energy collectors/generators will stream in at a set amount of metal per second depending on the building.
    should read:
Energy collectors/generators will stream in at a set amount of *energy* per second depending on the building.

Yes, you have read that correctly. Instead of thinking of units and structures as having an energy cost to produce, think of factories and engineers having an operating cost.

That's undetermined at this point. We'll either A. Do what we do with weapons. Charge up 1 second's worth of radar or B. Turn it into a prorated style structure, like radar's range being reduced by the percentage of energy it gets.
