    The new front page now looks a little like this:

    That's actually an animated background, it cycles between animated backgrounds which represent recent news.

    Below that are the "pillars" of the game:

    And below that there's a slightly more detailed news feed, an event schedule and a couple of other things and below that is statistics that show number of ships/backers and the crowdfunding timeline.

    Then there's the BIG update to Arena Commander which added the Avenger (which I still think needs a redesign) and a bunch of variants. there's also a new manual.

    The big thing for Arena Commander is the missiles, with different missile types that track different emissions. Obviously this means they've also added a signature system to make it work which is based of Signal-to-Noise ratio calculations. I'd rather not attempt explaining it because I'll probably fail miserably so here's a picture of the UI for signatures:

    The Public Test Universe is basically PTE builds. However it's only available to certain players, which sadly do not count me in their number. Info on this is on the page for the Arena Commander update but there's not much right now.

    There's a commercial for the second starter ship, the Mustang from Consolidated Outland. I suggest clicking that and brushing up on the lore, it'll help you "get" the commercial. TL;DR billionaire makes even more money on successful investments and builds the spaceship company of his dreams (kind of like Elon Musk)




    CIG have now released a game trailer for Star Citizen that is an actual, non-lore trailer for the game. I don't care for the music but here you go:




    The Idris Frigate has been around for a while, but now there are some new pretty pictures. However only one is an exterior shot:

    Apparently it's almost finished. I cannot wait to see this thing in hangars.

    And this is the Pegasus Escort Carrier, a small carrier that houses 30 spacecraft:

    That mustang trailer actually made me feel a little motion sick, with how the CGI Presenter was swaying and bobbing so often.
    That said I've been watching more vids on both SC and Elite, and trying to choose between them. The big divider is so far SC doesn't have any sort of open explorable universe implemented.

    There will be an open universe and there's a procedural generation mechanic in the works for post-launch. The game will launch with 150 star systems. Star Citizen is still far from completion but it's going to have a single-player campaign too. I don't think they plan to put the persistent universe into public testing until mid/late-next year.

    Funny thing about the Mustang trailer, one of my friends said CIG had climbed out of Uncanny Valley and the presenter looked normal. Not a common opinion but there you go.

    Hopefully the issues have all died down now. Scott Manley had to redownload the whole thing twice (40 gigs). They released the patch a little earlier than they normally would because if they kept working at it it would take away from employee holidays, and those guys deserve a break.


    Also more fun lore with some info on the rise and fall of a mining giant which explains why those big ring-shaped space stations are floating about everywhere and an explorer's journal. THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE DOING WRONG ELITE.

    Oh my, why? WHY?
    This thing is clearly never meant to hit any kind atmosphere. Sure, someone will tell me that they suck in vacuum for better acceleration.

    Also most ships have wings and such for operation in atmosphere... The planets are going to be a big part of star citizen :)

    While that's true I don't think ships like the Idris, Bengal, or Pegasus are designed with air in mind.

    I cant update to 1.0 its a massive download and i'm over on my monthly download cap :( have to wait till jan, @Geers did they enable key rebinding from the ui in 1.0, instead of having to do XML edits?
