The Compliment Thread

I know plenty about mental blocks. This dates back all the way to Halo CE on XBC where I would get absolutely **** on by guys like Patch and Yogi, even Bonesaw. These are guys who'd get 50 - 0'd by top players at the time like the ogres zyos darkman etc. I've done better in a match against ogre 2 and his leech mantrain, then I did against patch.

In halo 2, a friend and me would always play All day FFA's in a lobby with this one young kid. He claimed this kid was nasty and he could probably go pro if he went to an event, and even though he ALWAYS hosted the ffa's, we could get somewhat close to winning, always coming in 2nd or 3rd. Fast forward to one 2008 event and although he did shitty in the 4v4, Heinz Almighty became a (MLG) household name in the halo community. After his first event, we never got close to his scores like we used to in FFA. After playing so much, you eventually start to figure out your opponents. Then there were certain players I'd always seem to run into and even teams where I seemed to lose more than win, when I felt they were less skilled indivudally.


All in all, I don't believe there are any mental blocks in this game that I've experienced. Maybe xeno or peachy pony in my early days because of their unorthadox pub style (this isn't a diss) that I would constantly run into. I wouldn't even call it a mental block, as opposed to just figuring out their style. Maybe it's because I play assault, but the opportunity to outplay your opponent mentally is infinite. Although that is the case, I give credit to chron who keeps his playstyle and mental game fresh. I believe I've played assault against his more than anyone and although I have his playstyle figured out, he constantly adds new moves and methods to go about his playstyle.

Zatchmo if you aiming for the sniper your doing it wrong. You shouldn't be look at the sniper that's the assaults job.

....That's my point, however convoluted it may be. I am bad at it, therefore I don't do it.

zatchmo, I've given you a lot of praise recently, and I'm not sure if you've read everything I wrote. I have to ask, does what I say sound right to you? Do you happen to notice the things you pull off on me? Do you know if this happens from time to time against other players, or is this something specific to my assault?

Never happens to me. But that doesn't mean hes not a good sniper.

Yeah I think the general consenses is that he's a good sniper. However I consider him the best shot at the moment.

I consider Kckzi and Knives right up there with him, but they don't nearly give me as hard as a time as zatchmo.

I know it's not all about the accuracy though.. (see Sigmar vs F5in)

I consider your icetrap placement the best MLG, and your containment very good.

I was playing assault against you and literally got stuck in 4 ice traps in a row trying to break them. I saw the 5th one placed but didn't hit it. You don't know how annoying that was.

Well, there's your answer, everyone. People like ******* Chron talk down to people like me all the time. It does **** to you, but you wouldn't know or give a flying ****, would you?

You just got to ignore it, and then ask yourself every game you play what could you have done better and apply it the next game. Yea chron is a big **** talker but you cant take it to heart, why cause its just a video game and getting mad and arguing with a TV isnt that effective.

I know exactly what your talking about. I had that in Halo 3 against my friend even though everyone we played with said I was better. I also had that against Sigmar and Shammas, but that's probably because they are just better haha.

PS. Mantrain leached in SR as well. Not a good player haha.

Well trash talking is insulting, but like i said you just have to not get mad because its just e-nerds telling you that your bad at a game. I dont like to say im an example of not getting mad but i personally think im pretty close. I dont know how to explain how not to get mad but the best advice is just going into a private match and showing people that you can demolish them and even if they keep trash talking you destroy them again and eventually people will stop. And if the person is better all you can do is get better or ignore/mute them. Ask the best of every class to give you a couple tips if you want to get better.

maybe i dont even notice it in the heat of whats going on, but whenever i go on a tirade it usually wakes people up. once i told u to wake up and put traps in more proper aggressive spots, we pushed out. we were getting sh!t on in our base and after my little what the fvck are you guys doing, class-x you gotta do this or we're never gonna get out, class-y do this put traps/products/ etc over here, class-z focus more on this class, mix in a few dont play like a retards, and we came storming back to a very decisive stomping and win. if you would just stop being so emo you would see that i clearly struck something in your sniper that game that made you turn it right around and you were a valuable attribute to our success. if you want me to let you play the way you do and be ok with it and after the loss greet you with teddy bears and chocolate candy telling you its ok you will do better next time, i can do that too

call me what you want, say what you want about my attitude, tirades, yelling, instructing, rallying, all my in game antics, i get results and i make the players with potential better, and i guess sometimes the weak players quit out

You expect people to be damn-near perfect and to be on your level. Newsflash: some people aren't as good as you are.

When you said to put down more traps in the middle, it did help a lot.

You need to do that more.

Stop calling people retards and idiots, and stop blindly saying for people to stop sucking.

Why do you think I play privates? I obviously play them to get better.

I could just as easily get a 3-4 man party and just pubstomp all day, but I don't do that because it gets boring after a while and it doesn't help anyone become a better player.

you seem to only remember when i call people retards or stop being stupid, but there were plenty of times when people made a clutch play or a big push i would be the only one to compliment them and continue on by saying lets go and get map control, push up, lay traps and push bots in, i just killed class-x lets make a move, etc etc. if your gonna try to come in here and tell, wait no, remind people that i can be an a$$hole, lets tell the whole story, not just half of it, cause i praised just as many if not more actions that i may have condemned you for

@teapot yes i remember that game, i have nothing against ted, i was just pissed at how stupid he was playing sniper, i said why arent u helping with traps and sniping in the middle instead of in the corner shooting bots, he said he doesnt do that, so i said ok so you play completely useless, he left and never came back. i dont care if people get their feelings hurt by my opinion on how to play properly and leave at the drop of a hat

I never said it was a compliment. In that case you actually made a good call and gave good instruction and it worked out.

It's all about the way you say or do things that makes them matter.

ahh. i just cant keep it together when completely frustrated by poor play. if you were flat out terrible, i wouldnt have given you a hard time. but as soon as the game started when i saw i got stuck on gunner, i saw shammas was my assault and i was like whos sniping "oh snack, ok cool a smart sniper" but when someone who isnt bad plays like total crap and its costing us the game, i get too frustrated to be polite lol but anyway, you need to have a little thicker skin, at least if you want advice from or playing with me, but you turned it around and played well on sniper in the end.
