There needs to be an in-game voice chat feature.

Pazoki is right that those on voice comms are at a huge advantage against teams that are not. The ability to coordinate attacks, construction orders and general strategy is what lets teams with uneven odds (i like playing 3v7 games for example) defeat ones with greater amounts of players.

I didn't mean for this to become a discussion about how the game could change. I agree, but this is off topic.

could I just bounce of of this by saying the UI could easily give us a way to do this by showing teamate's mouse clicks at least during the spawn selection phase.

(you know that pulsating red ring we get?)
