@mikeyh since december 12th my lader stopt updating, i found out i get an http code 429 from http://pastats.com/report/winners?start= ... I can however use the same link in a browser without a problem. any idea how to resolve this? River
Private messaging was disabled in July... enabled again now. PA Stats is now heavily rate limited and scripting / bot access is pretty much disabled with 429 Too Many Requests. The only other option was turn off PA Stats as I'm not willing to double the server costs just to support PA Stats and it was impacting performance of the server and Community Chat. You'll have to wait until my lightweight ranked game stats are online.
Its asame, was only doing 1 request a day to keep the load on my server low already. i'm working on having it work on the uber feed but the data from that is almost useless. with a bit of work i can prop get most 1v1 games out of it but nothing more. need pastats for that again to connect uberid to username so thats out aswell. keep me posted on this please! is this only for ranked games or more?
Maybe move PA Stats back from your super quality (?) servers back to the dirt cheap "hope for the best" servers it has been run on before? https://www.kimsufi.com/uk/servers.xml 4core cpu, 16gb ram, 2tb disk, 100mbit unmetered traffic, less than 30€ a month. A server like that ran PA Stats for quite some time, even during time of much higher activity then now and with no rate limiting towards even the most aggressive API users.
I only know that you've spoken of quite high (300 ?) numbers in terms of server costs before. Assuming PA Stats is more than 30 of that you'd save money by moving. So if my assumption is wrong then well keep things as they are I am sort of curious how you reach 300$ a month of server cost, actually. You must be running quite a lot of things.
mikeyh i'm guessing you are not able to change the replay feed from uber to send usefull data? that would fix my problems.
Mostly hosting the mod database, and Amazon EC isn't exactly cheap when it comes to accounting for traffic. Even though the CDN is pretty reliable, so it's not exactly as if they would overcharge significantly. Only by a factor of 20x or so.
