Personally, I'd rather the stuff in this discussion be expanded upon AFTER the base game is released.

There was another unit that had a similar, but less powerful laser beam. The Cybran commander. It was a upgrade you could build. After the upgrade you had a laser beam out from your commander's chest.

Of all the experimentals in Supcom, i liked the Atlantis and Fatboy the most.

The reason is this: they're units with a unique function. The fatboy is a mobile artillery/factory unit. the Atlantis is a carrier/air factory sub. You can make them to fulfill unique roles, not to just steamroll the enemy. Sure, spam enough and they steamroll.

From supcom 2, the cybranosaur is just about the most useless unit in the game. Untill we played a non-mass conversion game. I gambled on a Cybranosaur. it payed off and crushed my friend's forces and i proceeded to win the game on a huge gamble (i was barely scraping by on my defences).

That, IMO, is what experimental units are about: they're not a proven fact, they're a gamble. Any regular unit can be built en mass and can do what it promises: destroy. Experimentals only work when used properly (like Fatboys being extremely weak if not escorted, same for Atlantes).

However, given the inclusion of Orbital Units and Asteroids, i think the main goal right now is find a balance there. I definitely believe we can have an "experimental" update later.
