It has a cracked kyber crystal which is the reason for the blade's instability. The ports on the side are to vent excess energy.

    ....

    I go out.

    Sometimes.

I assumed at the time that he meant the fuel tanks holding the energy of the star, but I could be off the mark. That visual dictionary should help clear things up lol.

The wookiepedia page has been updated, it explains a lot:

I'm going to say he is force sensitive, just not on the same level as Rey ( who i'm going to take a bet is a skywalker, i dont want her to be, as a new house would be better.)

For Finn being force sensitive there's a good discussion @ http://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/111797/is-finn-force-sensitive

Quintessence is more commonly known as Aether. It also refers to a scientific hypothesis for Dark Energy where the acceleration of the universe is not due to a cosmological constant but rather a dynamic field.

That's not really my problem with it though, it somehow manages to turn a reasonable explanation into a ridiculous one.

If it makes you all feel better none of it seems to be cited so it could be BS.

I though of this point of view before and while it's childishness isn't something I adhere to (force power to handle taking a laser to the gut better) I rather side with this in my head then the weak kylo that makes no sense just to preserve my enjoyability of the future movies. :p

Well, i thought the whole "kylo is severely injured but still fights like a boss" thing was fairly obvious, but apparently it's not.

Chewie consistently throws around Stormtroopers with that gun of his, instagibbing them. But Kylo survives the blast. I mean, that alone would prove he's pretty goddamn powerful?

    EDIT:

Is it just me, or is there a new trend where, if something is hated enough, it becomes cool to like it and vice versa?

Prequels were hated, but now people are claiming that "at least they were original".
TFA is universally loved, but now people suddenly start hating on it.
This doesn't even solely apply to Star Wars, it's something i'm seeing more and more now.

I don't know, i get the feeling that if a thing becomes too liked, people feel that liking it is peer pressure and that disliking it is "against the system" and thus cool/rebellious

    same for FA! :p
there is something of that. but generally it's just a question of sheeple following. it doesn't matter that the thing is "mostly liked" or "mostly hated" so long as you're following a trend in opinion and I agree with you it's annoying...
