I never made a statement about it being funny or not(I'll fix that, it's not). I just pointed out that it is both repetitive and edgy, two primary gripes you seem to hold against anime in general. Calling a genre bad then elevating something that exemplifies the very qualities that according to you make the genre bad just makes no sense.
Spirited away is aimed at a bit of a younger audience, but its an okay experience. More of a family movie, though. Personally, I enjoyed princess mononoke a lot (by the same director), if you're looking for movies. However, if you're new to anime, I highly, highly suggest code geass. Already mentioned before in this forum, it is nonetheless one of the highest benchmarks of anime you'll ever watch.
I stopped after the third episode. Too many ridiculous plot twists. They weren't even very creative, just ridiculous. It was like watching a bad soap opera with ugly mechs.
I hate it to watch anime because if the story ends i am very sad I recommend Zero no Tsukaima.Totally worth it.
