no. Uber has no mechanism ready to list custom servers. We are only at "stage 1" of the offline release, which is titled LAN-play after all. We just modded the internet to be our "LAN"

I am in the process of figuring out a good way to collect the money. Give it a few days.

How did you host a game with more than 10 players btw?

you're not attacking the root of the problem. we need an in-game mod market.

We need a lot of things. I am just looking for the quickest way to play huge games right now. Whatever can be done without relying on Uber.

Well, we did it yesterday. We just need to do it a little bit better, which is what this thread is for, no?

the "underground" factor with mods and running your own server (yes I rather the two be considered two separate entities) is intolerable IMO.

If Uber provides the visibility and ease of use and access these two elements deserve, then we can do so much more and we can take it from there.

    I understand. And I agree.

But I want to play huge games NOW, and TOMORROW. So we can talk about what Uber should do all day, and I love doing that too, but isn't this a thread about getting stuff done NOW?

I've got a couple of ideas I want to talk through with Colin - in Scotland ATM but going to try catch him for a chat later today. I think we can leverage our status as a company limited by guarantee to make things a bit easier.

You could require a mod be installed that shows a small add on the main menu (like blizzard did with the battle net chat lobbies).

Interestingly enough, I shipped a box out to my Dallas datacenter Friday that contains a water-cooled, overclocked version of the spec in the OP. I plan on using it for my gaming clan's PA server when we get the server code (in the meantime it is running a gigantic modded Minecraft server)

You won't get more of the server code than you have now: A compiled binary file.
By now I btw think my OP suggestion wasn't the best one. PA needs at least 8 cores for a lot of players, while it needs very powerful cores for the sim as well.

we cannot do the multithreading ourselves, we donnot have the source and even if we did we'd already be uber employees if we could.
i can put together that machine.
