Rapid construction unit.

    As mentioned, much more build power. Possibly, in a given range, adaptive to the resources available so he doesnt insta-stall you early on but can pump out some noteable ammounts of resources in late game.

    Other options just include making him more robust which would throw earlygame balance off. Or making him upgradeable which has been stated numerous times wont happen.

    Oh, or give him a shield ;).
    I know it wont happen :D

    Metal stalling doesn't do any permanent damage, so it's not a problem. If the Comm is metal stalling, he just didn't take enough time to reclaim his surroundings.

    "A unit with the lathe of two builders, and the combat power of 20 tanks." This problem has been identified in Supcom, and repeated ever since.

    I still think its a good idea to have such a unit for fast building on enemy planets.
    You know you may not always have that option for a planet smash in a game.
    And spamming nukes on a planet would be pretty boring way to end a game, maybe as a way to clear a path for a landing and time to set up.
    I guess to me it feel more satisfying winning a planet by being able to amass an army and roll over.
    The defending commander / base's on the planet would still always have the advantage.

    On a side note, a unit that has the ability to hide from radar would be a nice addition to. stealth attacks flanking etc... possibilities like that make for much more interesting game play.

    But then "you just take out radar" and roll in! i dunno idea's idea's!

    An *invading* constructor unit with a weapon? that might work....

    Radar jammers are planned to be added. They really are missing now.
