AI has still an issue with keeping flame tanks in base/commander reach, but outside the units weapon range. That he now helps out anywhere should make it harder to snipe him. Nice prioritization for commanders. As GW name I use the patter [Map Size] [AI Level] [Starting Loadout]. i.e. Uber Hard Air or Uber relentless Vehicle. Localisation: We now have Korean in work? Be scared Star Craft. Be Scared.
I just lost a Galactic war. Because of the stupidity of an AI commander. But at least in a phenomenal way. It was me + 2 Support Commanders vs Faction leader battle 4 AI in the Remnant System I and another AI spawned alone on one 1 halley rock. The other spawned with an enemy on the other 1 halley rock. With a bit of help from me he got his planet under control early, making us 2/2 with haleyable planets. I begun nuclear supression of enemy halleys. Suddenly the friendly AI that had spawned away build a halley and used it. At this time there were three planets: A) with his direct team ally and me on it (also his ally) B) Enemy held, at least 2 of the remaining 3 commanders present C) enemy held, no data on commanders. Now guess wich two planets he did NOT go for? The first two guesses do not count.... Lobby ID: 16307604791504728698 Doesn't the Halley AI part understand the difference between "Player commander" and "enemy commader"? Because with friends like these you seriously don't need enemies
So far AI has gone down. GW, Hard. The naval boss build one air factory, and then spent the rest of the game circling it with power plants. He still managed to cause me a lot of trouble raiding mex with that one air factory, but he didn't put up much of a fight once I finally got my economy straightened out.
Yeah the AI has trouble doing anything reasonable at the moment. The last 5 games or so it built 3-5 air factories and some PGens and then stopped doing anything in terms of expanding.
Great stuff! I'm trying to prove to the people of Steam that this shows your dedication to updating the game and getting the "missing features" implemented, and this helps. Although, to be honest, if people WANT to believe that you will stop working on the game and flee to Aruba, then no amount of evidence I provide seems to convince them. Works for some though.
The new commander is in the game files, but not the armory. Right now it's a little easter egg for those paying attention. Intentional or not, it's tasty
@SXX Would you be so awesome as to test this (RAM) usage again to see how much more we dropped? Or anybody else for that matter? I can't download and mess around with it, school stinks!
So I actually benchmarked it with same planet like previous time.(check link for benchmark planet info). Improvements on memory usage are great: memory usage has dropped from 4,298MB to 3,945MB. There is no great video memory usage change or at least I can't see them with 100% guarantee for reproduction. As other guys might notice previously I tested 71973 as PTE (now it' stable) and video memory usage as well as RAM was a bit different like plus / minus 10-15MB so it's would be hard to see change in video memory usage varrak posted about. So with this update Uber win another 350MB for my testing planet and with previous improvement it's already 900MB saved or 20% for this particular planet. UPD: This time everything was set on "low". This might explain a bit of video memory usage difference.
The AI still dont build Anti nuke, Im sure it had scoutet me, had several Orbital radars on my planet, also some odd nuke behaviour, Nuke not leaving the planet it was launched from, ending up spinning around in the planets core
Has been around since launch, but never mentioend it so far: If you play GW as the red faction and aquire a Support Commander the first one will be colored red - just like the player. That makes is pretty hard to distingiush between your units and you SupCom's. The 2nd uses white as color. Not sure 3rd and futher Sub-Commanders
Just tested same planet and system on Windows 8.1 with AMD HD6950 and latest drivers. So numbers are: Stable 71937: RAM usage: 3,513MB Video RAM usage: 658MB PTE 72332: RAM usage: 3,146MB Video RAM usage: 606MB Difference in RAM usage between Linux/Windows likely caused by fact that I'm running it on integrated Intel HD4600 and process memory also include what allocated through DRM as video memory. 50MB video memory difference is more interesting, but not that big. So basically this test indicate that no matter what platform you running on this PTE has saved 350MB for this planet.
@garat Add this in the notes for Stable (When it's released), it'll get quite a few people very excited! @varrak Sweet improvements!
I don't really sure that like 7-10% memory usage improvement on large planet (that not automatically apply to every planet) worth that much of attention, but the fact how game improved is great.
