PROBLEM: Tank's Deploy?

    There is so much bad info in this thread...

    Deploy is far from useless although it is a situational ability and not really worth upgrading to lvl3.

    It should be used...
    1. For quick health regen
    2. To take out an undefended rockit turret
    3. When juicing on the moneyball with many defenders nearby

    I should mention about #3 if there are only 1-2 defenders I will opt to kill them quickly. But anymore then that and the amount of CC will be overwhelming and you'll hardly do any dmg to the moneyball. I always opt to juice deploy from the top ring if at all possible.

    I know what deploy can do when you upgrade it, but losing control of aiming while deploying and packing up is not cool or fun, it sucks. I would love to use the extended jetbeam range against pros (seeing as how it doesn't do much to bots), but thanks to aiming freeze, I can't. Sure you can attack Turrets, but undefended turrets are fodder to any virtually any class.

    The primary concern I have here is with the loss of control in aiming. Alot of us already know what little applications deploy has as it is, but my focus is on the mysterious aiming freeze that takes place while deploying and packing up.

    The main issue here is simply that there's absolutely no reason to take away aim controls from the tank while he's deploying. It's not a major balance concern, but it simply makes zero sense.

    That's pretty much what I think. I just can't think of a balance reason for why the Tank has to suffer from this.

    As you said, it's not a major balance concern, but is still pointless and disappointing. Would this kind of thing be hard to fix? Especially for an ability with as limited uses at is it. Maybe there's some master secret the devs could share with us about why the Tank has all aiming control removed while deploying?

    Yeah I don't really understand it either, though without it you could pretty much guarantee never dying in the scramble no matter your skill level.

    Once you have lvl 3 Deploy you can use it to regen. ammo just like health. Instead of reloading deploy in and out to quickly regen. health and ammo. ;)

    yeah but reload takes less time than deploy/undeploy doesnt it?

    Personally I deploy to jumpstart health regen behind cover, but thats about it.. Or on the money ball when its close to down, and its worth it to try and finish it

    I am very interested in knowing what the devs have to say about this. Like it's been said, it's not a major issue, but it could use some input or clearing up. Especially since the problem was apparently pointed out since the 360 version.

    I understand that the devs must be very busy. I don't know what it's like to support a game on 2 platforms, but it must take alot of work to support this game. And they are probably working very hard on it as we speak. But it would be nice if one of them could take the time out of their busy and hectic work schedule to give us some insight on this.

    Does the railgun also lose aiming ability or is it only the jet gun?

    Both, indeed. When I noticed the aim freeze while deploying with my jet gun, I thought "Surely this can't affect the rail gun as well."

    But oh yes it does.

    Personaly I find that it makes deploying a chore and even les tacticaly feasible for the tank.

    I makes me fel that the deploy is only useful fo a "quick" reload and health recharge.

    That's pretty much how I feel about it. And it feels so... wrong.

    I may not deploy too often as a Gunner, but when I do, it feels good. I've mowed down handfuls of people while deployed, pinned many others down, and I tend to get alot of assists against pros thanks to the slowdown effect. Sure it's not a gamechanging ability that I use that often, but I've applied it in meaningful ways that have truly paid off, and will continue to do so whenever the meaningful opportunity presents itself.

    But as Tank, that's just not the case. Instead of deploying in combat to drive pros away or hell, do anything. I instead deploy after I finish running away like a scared girl to hide behind a fence and suck on my thumb for a few seconds while I heal. This wouldn't be so silly if I could fight back while deployed, but I can't. It's pretty much 6 seconds total loss of control while deploying and packing up.

    Deploying and packing up just to heal isn't fun. It's a chore. If this is really the only valid reason to ever use deploy as intended by the devs, then they could just make it more entertaining for us, and get rid of the deploy part and add about 8 second animation of the tank playing with a Paddle ball until he's fully healed, or taking out a microphone to tell a quick joke to the audience while he heals. (inb4 "but you can fight turrets!")

    Tank deploy is probably the worst skill in the game. I am pretty sure I would rather have any other skill than it, including gunner deploy (as a tank). Even the class grapples would be more useful than this horror.

    There really is no excuse for something this bad, you can't even use it for the intended use of sucking damage because it makes you more vulnerable than it helps. There literally isn't an active skill in the game I wouldn't rather have. I can't even find significant use for it during bot matches, because the reduced mobility and lack of death blossom usually mean I have to pack up to deal with something from behind anyway.



    Hands down, the most useless skill in the game for all situations.

    as someone said before some skills were made for blitz mode, this is one of them that is more useful in blitz

    its a quick way to get juice from gremlins
