the problem with pubs are they turn into private matches

one person loses to the other then they call for help
then it gets bigger...
then one team wins and the other quits

rinse and repeat

Also find that a lot of private match players will show up if someone is losing in a pub game

I know what to expect going into pubs but that doesn't mean it always happens. It's a challenge trying to out smart or outplay people. It's got a lot of depth competitively, and not everyone is able to see it.

I agree you don't know what to expect going into pubs. A big difference though is when I go into privates I expect to play against good players. When I go to pubs I expect to play against a bunch of unprestiged bots or juice chainers. Both are pretty good expectations.


also, if we take 12 very skilled players and stick them in the same lobby, isn't that better for the new players in pubs to learn the game and play freely? Aren't we doing you/them a favor? Pubstomping and juice chaining make people quit.. isn't it better if we don't do that?

yes and no... you restrict players to playing one or two classes in a certain way they might not be comfortable with. Not everyone whos a bot pusher can slay and vice versa. Also there is a HUGE i mean HUGE lack of people who actually try and win the match and kill the ball as quickly as possible. Most of the time its camp and kill and repeat.

But the funny thing is the game has so many angles and ways to win once the ball is down its almost impossible to top.

Pms provide a good time with better players and most involved are friends who have fun with it more than outsiders think. Animosity is only earned by those who criticize it negatively with zero true experience with it or a negative attitude earned from an inferiority complex developed from getting stomped by pm community players, or vice versa bragging about pub experiences like they matter. The pm community enjoys itself just fine and new players embrace it fairly well, we just like to entertain haters with the stereotype that we care about the results or what outsiders think of us. But there's a good thing haters and trolls exist still because without them the Xbox forums would be a very civil, productive, and thriving environment for any potential growth this game still has
