Well, I think everyone on this forum is excited about it. It would really suprise me if anyone here isn't.

And of course I am to! ;)

Well if they haven't implemented this yet how can they show it... All we've seen so far are single planets, we never saw anything with multi-planets or moons, suns, etc.

Does it matter where the combat is shown? Planets moons and Asteroids are Funcationally similar from an Engine Standpoint, just different size/biomes.

In one of the demos of the Planet/System generator they showed a system made up of several planets and such in a livestream.

I'd like to see some interplanetary combat.

Like in the trailer, shooting robots from one planet to another.

I kinda hope they'll be showing some combat with stationary units as well, such as artillery. I'm still wondering how they can justify long-range arty without shields.

Um, arty without shields is justified by itself, it is a different for of attacking the enemy that is only superior when the enemy's forces are not mobile enough to dispatch before it comes into range. You're not thinking on a sphere right now, but arty placement will be a lot more involved.

In the previous livestream I recall garat (I think :p) rotating a point defence/artillery piece on a cliffside, stops it having to turn 180 degrees to shoot a damn tank, like in FA. Seems very useful in my opinion.

They also said they're thinking about adding fixed fire arcs to certain buildings, ie. you need to rotate before being built it and it would never be able to shoot behind itself.

Curious if that is still a thing. :p

Impossible to say yet as it's essentially a Balance thing, so until things get to the point where balance gets hammered on, it could go either way. For the record I think it will get used in some way.

At the very least, the ability to set the 'default orientation', even if a turret has 360 arc, is nice functionality to have even just to help optimize defenses in a small way.

Any of our current structures and units, if rotation is part of their turret, allow for full 360 degree rotation. But it is a data field we set, as it can have big implications on balance. Not only the yaw and pitch angle limits, but also each unit can control how quickly they can change their yaw or pitch. It allows a fair amount of control to determine exactly how a unit behaves in combat.

Same as within SupCom then. Still, good to know (at least for those that didn't already assume) that you're getting all that technical stuff into the game.

I don't think I can wake up at 6:00 am to watch this. :(
Guess I will have to watch the youtube one.

Don't do any 'you had to be there' jokes while I'm not there, ok?

I'm tempted to get up at 6am, but not sure how long the stream is going for?

I probably wait till closer to Alpha release.
