Ah right yeah. That's virtually indistinguishable from Rise of Nations. I think AOE/RON did it a whole lot better than Earth:2150
Static AA in general needs a range boost. Right now it's pathetically short for something that is supposed to be anti-air. We have ground artillery (pelter, holkins) that can fire rather far, but both T1 and T2 AA is outranged by even a laser turret. Actually what I'd like to see is another kind of AA and some changes to the existing ones. The Missile Defense Tower looks like it has 2x missile pods each with a 3x3 grid of missiles. 1. Double it's range 2. Allow both pods to target independently (they could both target one unit, or if there are many targets they can choose different units) and fire 3 missiles at once. (so if both pods are firing 6 missiles are shot off, 3 from each pod) 3. After all 9 missiles from each pod are shot, give it a short reload time (like a bomber has to reload it's bombs) This would make it decent against scouts and other small groups of planes but not so good against large swarms since the reload time would mean the planes could get out of range, or take out the tower. Flak Gun 1. Slightly more range (120 vs 100, so same as a laser tower) 2. Slower projectile, fast enough to hit hovering gunships but not reliable to always hit a bomber, unless the bomber is slowing down for a turn. 3. (Maybe) Slightly less damage, slightly more aoe New Adv AA SAM There was a unit like this in a few different TA unit packs (I'm pretty sure TAUCP had it) called the screamer 1. Really good range (Somewhere between a pelter and a holkins) 2. Smallish AOE 3. Guided missile that is fast and accurate 4. Slow rate of fire, personally I'd like to see something like the MDT, but with one big missile pod of maybe 4 missiles, let it shoot off all 4 somewhat quickly and then have a lengthy reload time 5. (Maybe) Give it a minimum range so you can't just line your base with a bunch of these and become impervious to air assault. 6. Alternative (or possibly both) for minimum range would be to give it a slow turning speed so it has trouble tracking planes that get close.
