Unzoomed headshots are possible, during one of the rare times I sniped on mnc (i get bored sniping) I got a noscope headshot during OT (gold acc)

I have gotten one as well, back during my first round playing sniper. I was just as shocked as the guy chasing me.

OT: I've had this happen in a match once. I've tested it and found that the damage is reduced if you're not zooming. You still can get a headshot, but it may not necessarily be lethal.

OT: Yes, you can get epic no-scopes across the map if you so choose.

Does anyone have an idea of how a no scope magically happens? I have tried and tried to replicate it under perfect conditions using gold accuracy and point blank shots on a few classes and get 0 results. It always does regular bodyshot damage even if the bullet appears to hit the target dead in the face.

The one time it happened to me I had jumped and fired close but not point blank against another sniper on the side of ammo mule. I was just as baffled as he was. I was not running accuracy, so it was clearly luck in the spread. Good luck replicating it, I certainly can't.

I've hit a no scope headshot on an assasin by accident, I was backing away and they was trying to grapple me and I thought I had changed to secondary but I hadn't and hit from a couple feet away.

Yes, both times I have had it happen it was at close but not point blank range (5-10 feet away, or so).

maybe that was intended to prevent point-blank pumps? seeing as how point blank would be somehow easier to "aim" using the model instead of the reticle. might be wrong though as i don't see this limit mentioned in that xanga page with all the stats.

It happens rarely but makes me worry for hax accusations when I end up with absolutely unbelievable wtf shots like in G3 when I was standing under the spawn ring and managed pop the head of an enemy assault standing on top of that first bridge whilst unscoped. :shock:

You think thats good? I was about to charge a sin off the edge as his grapple finished on my sniper friend, and in less time than it takes a charge to travel 5-10 feet, he had headshotted the sin. I bet the poor sin was even more surprised than I was.

It's possible but extremely rare. If you try to replicate it you'll fail...it's one of those things that just happen. I've gotten a handful of point-blank ones during 1v1s with various classes (usually sin). Don't know how or why they happen, but I'm thankful anyway.
