    Look at that. Two new posters for the price of one. Pretty good deal.
    Commanders that sail into the void will find a completely different galaxy before they hit the next planet. Classic telescopes mean that a Commander is working with intel that is years out of date. The pacing of this war makes that kind of intel unacceptable. Chances are the new solar system has been attacked or destroyed. If not, the enemy you ran from can easily trace your shuttle to the next system, gate over there, build an army, and kill you instantly on arrival.

    It's just not a good idea.

    This is called an "asteroid". They already exist in a solar system and are far cheaper and more lethal than building gigantic space ships.

    Dedicated war vessels are out. The majority of PA is about fighting on planets to get resources from planets to conquer more planets. The only true FTL, if we're following Total Annihilation's lore, is a 1-way galactic gate with a payload capacity of exactly one Commander.
