At least this way, I won't get a headache from him being completely unreasonable, as well as insulting

His choice of insult though, "steam sheep?" What the hell? I couldn't help but laugh at that.

Myth #1: The kickstarter was a massive sum of money to make a game and was enough to develop the game entirely and advertise and everything.
[BUSTED] The ~2 mil it got barely would have gotten it to beta stage.

    Myth #2: Steam is DRM
[BUSTED] This is simply laughable. It is an online store and distribution service. arguing that buying the game and being forced to download it through steam is like saying you want to buy a game at a retail store and then not walk through the front doors with it. Simply stupid.

Myth #3: This game was well known
[BUSTED] Are you kidding? this game is STILL not well known. Of all my friends, only 2 know about this game, and 1 of those was the guy who made me aware (by word of mouth mind you, no advertisements) of the kickstarter. I've never even SEEN a PA ad outside of steam. Everyone I know who plays PA was introduced by word of mouth

Myth #4: You need steam to launch this game
[BUSTED] This has been said in this thread a number of times before, but maybe if it gets said a few thousand times something might sink in. YOU DO NOT NEED STEAM TO LAUNCH PA. Just go make a shortcut on your desktop to the PA.exe. Saying to launch PA through steam is evil is like saying launching it from PAMM is evil, it doesn't even make sense, the commands executed by the computer are the same.

Myth #5: PA is DRM free
[CONFIRMED] When you buy PA, you are buying the game itself and a SINGLE playfab account. You do not need a key to play this game, I can copy my game and give it to a friend and he can play the whole game without restriction. This is DRM free. What he would NOT get is access to the playfab account (unless I was willing to share). Having a log in system is a simple way to ensure that MY account, which I bought, is secure for ME to use in the way I want to.
It would not even be hard for me to set up an automatic patching service from my game to said friend's so he wouldn't need the launcher and he would even get the updates. This would be a waste of time of course since everyone I know who has tried the game has agreed it is awesome and worth the price to get their own account.

To bad this forum doesn't have a survivor vote system

    1. Yes, and the Steam profits have been much, much less.
    2. DRM is the very DEFINITION of a DRM, PA may be an exception here, but most games bought from Steam MUST be launched through Steam. So, the analogy (for most games) would be more like having to go back to the retail store every time you want to play the game.
    3. Anecdotal evidence isn't going to do you much good, there's a large majority of players who knew about the game prior to the Steam sales, and it's a reasonable assumption that most people were looking for a new RTS game, rather than just stumbling upon it by happenstance.
    4. I never claimed Steam is necessary to launch PA, only that if it is purchased through Steam, the game is activated through Steam, and your license to use the game is in the hands of valve, not Uber.
    5. PA is not entirely DRM free if it is sold through a DRM client. DRM-free implies being sold through DRM-free services ONLY.
