Haswell isn't even an upgrade. It just uses less power than the Ivy Bridge chips. Anyway, this is off topic.

Well a i3 540 is only dual core, is PA not dealing with less than 4 cores well? And 62C may seem relatively high, but it's really nothing to worry about if that's a temperature under load.

Yeah... even 80C is fine, if it is hitting the high 80s and low 90s that is when you need to start worrying about how hot your CPU is running.

My idle is like ... ~45

The settings all have an effect (though some more than others). I run everything on the lowest settings. I especially recommend turning shadows off to improve framerate.

My game runs at around 14 fps on all settings (Low to Uber).

Running an I5-3570 (non k version) and a single Radeon HD-6850. I also have 8gb of ram.

*Edit* As of 50355 i get around 26 FPS instead.

Saying its not an upgrade is wrong, because it is a better cpu. Perhaps not worth the upgrade from sandy or ivy to haswell, but definitely worth it for building a new comp from scratch.

Besides, i have a feeling that the bottleneck for the game are low memory graphics cards, rather than cpus currently. Internet speed aswell.

The i3 540 is only dual core.

Dual core but hyper threaded - it'll appear in Windows as 4.

    AMD Phenom II X2 555 (3.2GHz)
    4GB DDR3 RAM
    nVidia GeForce 450 GTS

Played 4 games now - it is somewhat playable but every 10-15 seconds the whole application grays out temporarily (say 4 or 5 seconds), then unlocks and frame rates return to normal. It reminds me of the "skipping" that happened with Rage when it first came out. I upgraded to the latest available gfx driver package, seemed to help slightly but it did not resolve the random lockups.

I've been able to duplicate this behavior on two other machines I have (though the other machines have considerably better hardware). Lowering from Uber graphics profile does not seem to help.

When the game does not lock up, the performance is butter smooth.

Hey, its Alpha and its still fun!
