    Now that would be quite the game shift. And would likely scale nicely with small planets, medium, and large. Since radar would be pretty much balanced to fit with the side of the map as well as the size of the economy.

    If I recall correctly, the official response was that it's technically too hard to implement.
    I also think that this will be completely imbalanced - underpowered on small planets and overpowered on large ones.

    Over powered.

    To be considered to be powerful enough to override other methods of strategy of units that can do the same thing.

    This ^

    Thanks igncom1.

    Sorry for using an abbreviation without explaining it.

    People, people, this has nothing to do with radar mechanics. The unit may be called a radar, but it is not a radar, it is a unit with a planet sized LOS.

    range = (pi(radius))/2

    that is, 1/4 of the circumference of the planet. Obviously I'm not an expert on the game but... that doesn't sound hard.

    I don't think it would be underpowered/overpowered. While obviously it would reveal a lot more on a large planet but, there is a lot more territory to have to reveal to see people. There is also probably going to be a lot more people trying to shoot it down.

    On both small and large you would still have to choose between moving the sat and risking it or scouting with regular units.

    This would also encourage gaining of map control, so you can move a sat into a much safer position that can see the enemy base (this assumes umbrellas get a boost)
