we are in agreement on the adding of boosters before launching my friend I'm not disputing that. I just feel that anything space worthy should be built from the space worthy factory. The astreus would still return to the orbital platform to get boosters for interplanetary travel, just like the kick start trailer.......I will disagree with comm napping though

There are some edge cases here. The commander should never be able to be "camped" in space. If on the way to a body that no longer exists or that has changed position, orbits should be updated to get there. A commander on an intra-solar flight can be protected for a time, but we're going to also be placing some limits so you can't do chained hops , with necessary cooldowns, and a number of other ideas we have floating around.

We had our own stalemate game in the office, including a bug where a commadner was effectively unkillable - but also unusable. :) We're focusing on stability and performance first, but you can also expect quite a bit of iteration on the orbital/interplanetary interactions over the coming days and weeks as well.
    Murcanic and Ortikon like this.

I think commanders in space should expire due to long-term radiation exposure. If they are trapped by the system's star, they should eventually fall out of orbit into the star and expire!

Why wouldn't produce a complete cover of orbital fighters across the entire sky on every planet, not be the 10 minute solution to this problem? Because if you did that, the few seconds he did spend on planet would cost him heavy damage and after 2 times death.
Had same bug, where commander won't catch up to planet he is supposed to land on, making him effectively trapped in space. Unuseable but technically if he is all you have left you still don't lose so the game can't be won.

An easy fix would be to have a 'lift off' delay after a move order is sent, say 1m-30sec to allow fighters to intercept it. In other words, the lander would s-move into orbit and possibly circle the planet before leaving, or float in a circle until the timer has expired before leaving into space.

Personally this sounds like a perfect solution to the problem. A one-way trip to a chosen destination, with a fixed time-frame to set up the means to leave again, as long as your economy is still thriving on the previous planet. If it isn't, then your penance is to stick around and build it up again from scratch :)
