That is very clearly only ONE Turtle, :( I believe the image requires an infinite number of turtles.

Yes, but think, why do the PTE servers always run very nicely? Why are servers less leggy when less players are on? Less gamed per server computer seems to always make the servers smoother, at least in all the evidence so far.

Then it is flexible and not limited to one core and 4GB ram per game, this would make the previous comparision pointless.

You don't run the server on slower PCs. You rent an AWS xlarge EC2 instance for $0.50 USD/hour.

Nope. I think you're screwed with that severely underpowered PC.

So now we're all off to throw money at the kickstarter and tell all our friends to do the same? :D

So let me get all my ducks in a row:

    1. Call Br-

WAIT. HOLD THE PHONE. We can't host servers?

Does that mean when they refer to "offline servers" they mean a true offline mode? Everything is on my personal computer?

Well AFAIK it is still always online encumbered and I personally find simulated mass murder of humans distasteful. It is one thing when they are all gone like in PA (for whatever reason), it is another thing entirely when you are partaking in a depressing apocalypse simulation, even though technically it looks cool. Not for me though and good luck to Uber with it.

Yes. You can play the game against ai without internet connection.

You can also play game over lan, with only 1 copy (as drm free).

The only restriction now is the ability to set up a dedicated private web server for online play (confirmed coming) :)

Note I think galactic war still needs internet as the gw map is still generated on uber server (from an earlier post about it) but hopefully the actual games will be run offline?

I hope that GW, too, will eventually be generated offline, if that is not already the case - being now or near future.

I think they want to keep gw as an online feature (requiring a log in) to give people a reason to buy the game :p I mean with the offline mode you can install on a machine and play with no login at all, leand to a friend and so on. Thing is if said fiend likes the skirmish mode they might buy a copy for gw or to play multi player with you online.

I don't think it's unreasonable. They're giving us a lot more than most companies :)

Well, Brad does say 'Play galactic war offline' so I'm hoping it'll be completely offlineable.
