jabbles wrote about that in his offline step 1 post. That's indeed the aim, the stand alone server just isn't finished. The functionality is already there and modders can unlock it, but it's not exactly polished.

Just want to stress this point - the functionality to run a stand alone server is already in (and games have been played over the internet without using Ubers servers), it's just missing a nice GUI at the moment.

Command lines are where it's at.

If that's the case can you point me in the right direction (documentation perhaps?) on how to install the stand alone software using Linux? My Linux server is entirely controlled from the command line, there is no GUI so I have to rule out using Steam to download and install PA. I do use Steam on my Windows desktop but it doesn't include Linux binarys; so obviously I can't copy it across.

I'll post a WIP/How-TO to make public-via-pa-stats custom servers in a few hours.
