time differences suck. The devs at Uber only started their 9th an hour or two ago.
EXACTLY!!!

I have waited for this offline patch since i bought the game nearly a year ago...

The way i see if when it comes to customer satisfaction always under promise and over deliver. I think it would have been better if they said friday the 10th (at a good time!! lol) or even if they said end of this month and again released it this weekend.

Either all will be forgiven and forgotten when it does come out finally.
Except is out, for nearly a day now. People need to calm the **** down and stop jumping to conclusions

no1 is jumping to conclusions. They said the 9th, not the 9th US time or EU time.

so the problem u got is assumptions are made by us, which is never a good thing. But ill wait patiently, i know by friday night EU time ill be playing

The fact is, it was out. I've had it for over 14 hours already.

    Thus, jumping to conclusions.

I kind of agree with this one. Why post a date, then rush on that day to test and release? That's asking for trouble. Why not communicate a "release by" date that gives you more time than you need, then apply a change freeze on that build, then test it and possibly release early? Sounds like you guys have a problem with scope creep! ;)

But it wouldn't be the 9th at their time then. The game is patched on their schedule - not yours.

It was actually just released to stable, now.

Because people wouldn't stop begging for it essentially. ;)

Plus it feels nice right now, playing very smooth with my specs:

Quad core i3 2.3 GHz and 4GB of RAM, even better if you had 8 or more.

If I understand your response correctly.....the solution to the problem of too much time to a release date is easy, just plan the releases internally the way I've suggested and don't communicate the dates publicly until it is closer to being released. It just seems that they do bug testing right up until the day of release, which just seems rushed to me.

They did that for months, and people wouldn't stop speculating, they assumed Uber was going to stop development, so many ridiculous conspiracies.

Personally I'm very happy to see them communicate, but I do think people were being way over the top in the past.

Try wasting 160 dollars on a damn product and not have it delivered fully and then tell me the way I'm acting is melodramatic.

I have a couple of questions..

Does this mean there is a stand alone Linux server? I run all my server services on a CentOS 7 system (no GUI), so using Steam is not an option. If so where can I download just the server software? If there isn't, is there a plan in the future for a stand alone Linux server for PA?

I believe, the game has it included into it. You can opt to run the game, and start a match singleplayer, if the specs are high enough it will run auto, if not you need manually choose it in options to run offline. That is how windows work anyway, run on linux and try.

Hmm that's unfortunate; I guess its not what I was expecting. I had assumed that Uber's intention for offline mode was a stand alone server.

You're spending a lot of time and energy at being angry, that's unreasonable and results in purely toxic behaviour. In the end it's can achieve little more than attempt to make others feel as miserable as yourself.

And the important thing is, your main grief you wrote about isn't even about Uber and PA, but purely your own fault. There is nobody else to blame if you throw so much more money on the prospect of an idea than you are willing to loose.

Even if the majority of people think the result is the work of god, there is absolutely no guarantee you won't be disappointed.
Personally, i always ask myself if i'm ok with loosing the money i spent on a kickstarter or EA, something like that is imo the way to go. To bad if you aren't satisfied with PA, but try checking back in future, or take a look at the mods. Maybe that will be more to your liking.

jabbles wrote about that in his offline step 1 post. That's indeed the aim, the stand alone server just isn't finished. The functionality is already there and modders can unlock it, but it's not exactly polished.

Just want to stress this point - the functionality to run a stand alone server is already in (and games have been played over the internet without using Ubers servers), it's just missing a nice GUI at the moment.
