What probably happened was someone demanded of Gamefreak that they make a new type for marketing, and they did their best to find balance with that demand. You're right, I doubt that Fairy type was added by the devs deciding it was a hole that needed filling.
Probably. I imagine most players aren't interested in competition beyond beating their friends. Fairy might have been added to give a more obvious (less meta) counter to legendaries and dragons in general. It'll be interesting to see how the new balance plays out. Even though it's the same ol game, I'm glad they finally transitioned to 3d battle scenes.
SSB is fun :3 fond memories of it on my cousins N64. I've never owned a nintendo system so no played any more recent ones
X/Y is a reference to the 3D part of the 3DS that it was released on. The third one will be Pokemon Z. The axes of 3D space are x, y, and z.
New SSB will be on 3ds. I now have no reason to not get a 3ds. I guess it's time to catch up on all the DS games I missed out on since I skipped that generation of handheld.
ssb is a lot more fun with 4 people in the same room. i never got into the online part...even if the connection would have been pristine, it wouldn't have been the same. (kinda like playing with a team of 4 other people in SMNC that you aren't friends with)
Even though the online play was pretty terrible I still enjoyed SSBB online with some of my friends. I dislike the friend code crap, though. I also hope SSB4 is more like Melee than Brawl.
Actually it's also likely for the male/female chromosomes/genetics codes. Earlier logo images looked like this: Note the helix, like in DNA. But I can't say I've heard specific details about that so I won't claim it as truth. I didn't play much Brawl but I liked it, still was that tripping stuff really the dealbreaker or was it something else?
Well they'll probably get rid of it since it was so hated, I don't remember tripping but yeah probably only played 5 hours total at the library over time. What characters do you think won't be making a return, if any?
Sonic. I really hope he doesn't make an appearance. I also don't think we'd see Snake again, but I wouldn't mind him being in it again. Toon Link will probably be replaced by another variation of Link, I'm almost 100% sure.
*cough* for no particular reason I'd like Sonic to stay, at least in the 3ds version since I barely got to play with him and way back in the days of Melee there was that April Fool's prank where people said Sonic was in Melee, to actually have that actually happen in Brawl later was awesome. People are saying the new link is looking like a combo of Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess. So I'm thinking Toon Link still stays if they keep using one adult one alt pattern.
I want a new Mother character. I remember reading that killing 20 people in cruel melee would unlock Shrek and Sonic, lol.
yeah it was something like that. I think I actually tried... I don't know about a new Mother character though, isn't Lucas on the chopping block for being like Ness? Though personally if they have enough disc space, I really don't see much of an issue with having similar characters. Like I liked Roy and Marth, very similar but Roy seemed like more power and Marth more strategy and speed.
