But wait, that's not all! Call in the next 30 minutes and receive an artillery car plus two anti-aircraft cars!

Unfortunately, those AA cars are Planetary Annihilation-brand ground AA, and so will cost 50% more than a fighter for a quarter of the DPS, so you'll be glad you got them for free.

    This is awesome!

I´m curious what uber think of your idea...

It can solve the problem of the realy difficult the program massunitstransporters (means: airtransports like supcom, wich we will not see in the final game).
And i think there dont have to be so much problems to solve for an implementation because you could make the rails not part of the flowfield. so all units can go past it.

I like the idea, but I reckon most units travelling this way will only require a one-way ticket.

    These are fantastic.

Remind me of the old Soviet armoured trains:

I don't see there being a problem with mass unit transportation. PA will have cheaper and more plentiful air transports that only carry one unit at a time.

If this rail system was implemented it would be different from air transports. It would be longer term and cheaper, but much less susceptible to raiding.

I´m referring to John. He said that the air transports in supcom where really difficult to program and really expensiv in the development. And because of this there will be no such like transport in the releaseversion of PA.
But you are right: Having many transports that carry only one unit with a ferrysystem would work quiet well.

No only awesome idea, but i mean how few if any RTS actually has trains.

I know age of empires 3 had trains, but that was for resource trading.

I dont think there exists any RTS game where you have your own train you can actively use. At least ive never heard of it.

    I wonder why that is.

It is a good idea. But mod material, most likely.

Alternate concept: allow any vehicle to use the rail as a traincar. So instead of loading traincars with tanks, they just step on the rail and away they go. Bots loaded into vehicles act like traincars, except they can also be used as APC's off the rails. Dedicated rail cars can also exist, such as for guns and constructors to lay more tracks, or even factories on rails.

Hi all, thanks for the feedback. Here are some ideas I'd like to visualize but can't seem to find the time to do so.
    • Nuke trains (Try and anti-nuke those..)
    • Train commander mode, train is the base! Yes, train cars are factories, defense and energy. Basically you'd spend the entire game chasing the other players train base while trying to protect your own.
    Have a great weekend everyone!

Trains are of course nice to have, but let's not go so far that the game starts to become more about trains than everything else. A train is a unit, it should not be used as a building.

I have a feeling Uber would be a bit hard-pressed to put these in game...

    But my gods...

*removes flag and plants it in ground* This mod is MINE. You hear me?

Interplanetary trains riding on rainbow beams of light powered by black-hole unicorn lasers mounted on sharks riding t-rexs in a fusion reactor strapped to a nuclear bomb that just got launched from a kinetic energy weapon being pushed by giant robots with rocket jetpacks that transformed from a metal planet.

Okay maybe rainbow lasers is a bit much...

Blimps or helicopters +1 for the change in air movement concept.
