Ok. So Japan got a new trailer. This might be the most beautifully shot Star Wars movie ever. Warning: There is one scene they show something that looks pretty "important". I mean, it looks like a pretty key scene. It doesn't reveal the story or anything like that but I would call it a minor spoiler. Personally I'm not particularly upset I've seen it but you've been warned. THE SCENE I'M TALKING ABOUT IS ALSO ON THE THUMBNAIL. BEWARE! If anyone wants I can just post a screengrab of the most beautifully shot part of the trailer. Spoiler [\spoiler]
So... Spoiler: Speculative stuff that may or may not be spoilers Is Kylo Ren Luke? Mark Hamill isn't in any promotional stuff, and Kylo Ren says he'll finish what Vader started. If so it seems like a weird way to take things.
He's not. I think It wouldnt make a lot of sense considering that Luke was in the trailers touching R2. There is evidence that Hamill tried to pitch the idea to JJ and his team of creative designer people but from what I heard, it fell through.
That's true. I still have a feeling that he'll be some kind of villain, though. It'd be a neat twist for the audience and it would kind of make sense in terms of where the movie's going. If Jedis and the Force are seen as myth/legend in this movie, it would probably be because Luke attempted to suppress knowledge of them, since he was the last Jedi remaining. To what end I can't say. Maybe his ability of using the Force makes him seen as some sort of demigod by Kylo Ren and his weird Darth Vader cult... thing? I dunno. Yeah, but James Earl Jones wasn't in the Vader suit. Then again Kylo Ren doesn't really sound like Mark Hamill so... yeah, counterpoint withdrawn. Unless it's some sort of fake-out, but I doubt it.
Here's a simpler version: Luke's first apprentice after the fall of the Sith in RotJ was Kylo Ren. However, he failed and Kylo went rogue as a dark/gray Jedi. Luke, dismayed by his failure, withdraws to find what he was missing with Ren. Years have passed, and Kylo is back for revenge/to finish off the Jedi/carry on Vader's legacy. Ta-da, story holes fixed
