If you are playing capable human beings then you can get on your high horse with someone who only plays vs the AI because only one of them knows how to really play the game.

I really hope that there is a large number of offline players, because otherwise that means that hardly anyone plays PA, judging by the lobby numbers. I do think there is a very strong correlation between the people who play online, and the people who go on the forums, as the more hardcore players tend to be the most vocal.

FAF has hardly any playerbase compared to PA, though...

Well, yeah, at any given point there's like what, an average of 750 players on FAF? That's a lot higher in PA, most likely.

    http://www.faforever.com/
    http://steamcharts.com/app/233250

these two don't have same stat type so it's hard to compare. I'll have to ask around. Probably only visionik has better stats.

but some of these make me think that FAF actually does have more average players than PA.

That's only steam, too, I'd say a healthy majority of players don't play through steam. Or they bought the game through steam and just don't launch it via steam.

as pointed out numerous times (even by devs), those stats include PA versions of the game (which is the same, and the same playerbase)

Except that steam only logs players that are logged in on steam, so either the devs were talking about different stats, or they were wrong.

As Uber previously mentioned the majority of players play against the AI. It is the multiplayer that is the minority. It is foolish to think that Uber does not have access to some kind of metrics about PA. Were just not privy to it. Also look at the EULA it states that the game is sending information to Uber.:)

Would be nice if they specified which information, but I think it's reasonable to assume that the only information the game collects are match statistics and crash logs. Single player is played by the majority of players, and it just so happens that unfortunately they are less vocal.

The way I see it, Multiplayer can get boring very quickly if you always loose. I'd be willing to bet the % of player's doing multiplayer get's less and less as the scale and perceived difficulty of the game increases.

I seem to remember the same thing in Sup com i.e lot's of people were playing Ai skirmishes.

supcom had a god-awful stock AI, thankfully Sorian changed this.

I play on FAF, but only singleplayer.

    :p

Also, modding PA requires a lot of singleplayer for testing.

I have serious doubts that valve monitors games played on games that valve did not sell - those numbers should reflect only the steam copies

it's a different case with PA as the game was developed from the start with the knowledge that it would be on steam and with good relations with gabe newell.

uber essentially wants all their playerbase on steam and the game has litterally no difference from steam to uber version.

I doubt it isn't playfab that sends the stats over to steam.

biggest load of BS I ever heard, the game was intended to be DRM free, they'd never take the DRM free option away.
