You work for Square Enix?! Holishi...take.

I am still hoping for a port of Final Fantasy XII for PC. That was my favorite of the series so far. Needs a pretty godly PC to run it on the PS2 emulator, which is buggy as hell. (and yes, I own the game itself)

On topic: Still waiting on a reply from Ekanaut about what he meant when he said the PS3 was broken. Games are still releasing, so I don't think it's the jailbreak thing, and PSN should be back up very soon if it's not up already.

Let me preface this by saying it's just my opinion. It doesn't matter to me or a lot of other people if and when PSN goes back up. Sony is clearly not up to snuff security wise. What was it? 77 million accounts compromised? We're talking one of the biggest information leaks in history. At this point the FBI and members of the US Congress are even involved. During this whole fiasco they couldn't even be honest. They started out saying they were pulling the servers down for some maintenance.

Just today (yesterday?) it came out that on top of the PSN hack SOE's database was hacked as well adding another 24.6 million accounts worth of compromised data. They insisted that didn't occur after the PSN hack leaving those SOE servers up and running. They didn't even shutdown the servers for their Facebook games until last night continuing to leave potentially millions of users information at risk. It also might be worth pointing out that Sony didn't even make the decision to pull down the servers the FBI forced them to do so (I don't have the link atm so you'll have to search yourself or take my word). They didn't even encrypt people's credit card and account info! WTF? While I personally don't know specifically what Eka meant by PS3 being broken, I'm pretty sure that's it. Personally this was the final nail in the coffin for me with Sony. I've never had problems with playstation but SOE is terrible. If you are willing to trust Sony with your personal information at this point in time more power to you, but I would certainly suggest thinking twice about it.

I thought this was a really solid point made by Geohot a hacker that helped jailbreak the PS3 and is well known in the community that basically sums up my point of view as well:

"Sony needs to accept that they no longer own and control the PS3 when they sell it to you. Notice it's only PSN that gave away all your personal data, not Xbox Live when the 360 was hacked, not iTunes when the iPhone was jailbroken, and not GMail when Android was rooted. Because other companies aren't crazy."

Sony is one of the most arrogant companies on the planet if you ask me. Just look at what they did to SWG in 2005 with the CU and NGE. More recently they promised Monthly content updates on DCUO and have so far delivered a whopping 2 out of 4 months. Abandoning development on Vanguard which they purchased just to remove competition against their EQ2 title. These are just examples from SOE as I am a much bigger MMORPG/PC gamer than a console one. I am sure that there's some console gamer out there that can provide similar examples for that branch of Sony.

I could go on about this all day as this topic is all the rage atm on other forums.

*Not to mention SOE had to cancel one of it's highly anticipated upcoming MMOs The Agency that they've been working on for years. They're struggling if you ask me (SOE not necessarily Sony as a whole), especially after the flop that was DCUO for PC.

"Better safe than, Sony." That's my new motto.

TL; DR - I hate Sony. They suck at security. Don't entrust them with your information.

Well' it's a good thing I use pre-paid PSN cards instead of credit/debit cards, not like I would ever use them for online stuff anyway. Heck, I bought MNC with a pre-paid Visa gift card.

So, will this be the death blow to the PS3? I bet fanboys are all up in a frenzy over this.

As for the Sony incident, there's this thing floating about now about a database of 2.2 million credit card numbers (complete with CVV) being on sale. No credibility behind that yet though. Best still to change your credit card number to be on the safe side.

This will hit Sony's reputation hard, but I wouldn't say it's a deathblow. The last thing you want is Microsoft holding a monopoly over the console market.

Better safe than Sony, good one!

I have always considered that Sony and Microsoft have such a bad attitude in the gaming arena. While they are out for each others blood at every game show, Nintendo just goes up and talks about fun, reaching a wider audience, and helping families game together.

    This is the correct attitude.

Luckily this is why I have no accounts on any Sony databases.

Also, I dont think Final Fantasy XII will ever be on PC.
I doubt we will revisit past games, but future games may have a chance.

Well, if possible, pass my props to the developers of FFXII.

Lol, I do have a PSN account, but I never use a credit card for any sort of online purchases. Pre-paid all the way.

As for the Wii, there are a few games for the FPS aficionado, my fav of that will be Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. It was one of the few fps games to really utilize the Wii-mote. If it was an online game too, that would be quite something. The Wii may not be a powerhouse, but it excels in games that are not supposed to be realistic
    (eg, Mario).

I think more like that Wii excels in games for kids and adults, who dont play video games too usually. PS3 and Xbox360 are more like the consoles for us hardcore gamer teenagers.

The immaturity of some 360 owners in this thread is shocking.

Is this what you guys are really like?

Only the ones that are fanboys.

I have an Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, and frankly, as long as it uses a controller, I really don't care what platform a game comes out in. Except Wii... don't like motion controls. Thank goodness you can still plug in a regular controller for Mario Kart.

The only thing I don't like about the PS3 is it's controller, worked better when I was younger I suppose, but now it just feels too small. This is really only an issue in multiplayer games for me, but I have an adapter that lets me use my Xbox 360 controller with my PS3 so I don't really mind.

Case in point, PS3 is fine, don't hate on it. While I have no need for MNC on PS3 since I already have it on PC & 360, if Uber can turn a profit, and provide the game to PS3 owners, more power to them.

I prefer PS3 because of the free network, which was the original reason I chose it over xbox. But right now as you know the free network had its cost.

Free network is nice, but all my friends are on XBOX, so the choice is kind of forced on what platform games I buy.

PCs often allow games to run better but it comes at the price of needing to upgrade your hardware after every X amount of years. Case in point, MNC has no slowdowns on my PC vs 360, where frame rate drops dramatically if too much stuff is going on i.e. Multiple Juicers in OT.
MNC for PC also allows more bots, 5 instead of the usual 3 on console.

Also, people tend to move on in console games, PC communities keep old games running for a very long time.

Where as consoles might not look as good or perform as well, it only needs to be purchased once in a long while like every 5 years. And you can use the controller on all games if you prefer it, as oppose to hoping they added controller support on the PC.

Both have their pros and cons. Really its a matter of personal choice. :ugeek:

    -Modding
    -No problems with backwards compatibility
-Lot more functions than a console
-Games run better (and look prettier)
    -More precise aiming
    -etc.

The biggest draw backs are cost and its restriction for one user.

I can't play splitscreen with my friends if they're at my house. If they want to play with me it wil have to be online and they're going to have to allocate a large sum of money to play the games that I play - and not many of them are as dedicated as I am in gaming.
