Im both a writer for a gaming website, specifically one who covers Indie and XBLA titles, and I had a chance to play this at PAX East.

Monday Night Combat looks to be one of the best XBLA Titles I've played ever on the marketplace. I agree with the others who say that this is someone who's never played the game and is basing all of their information on screenshots and videos.

On another note stating your opinion on ANYTHING without proper research or in the case of video games, some hands on experience, shows a lack of journalistic integrity.

Then again, perhaps Im biased because I was on Team Iceman at PAX East, and we won the tourney.

The article seemed pretty fair. The only thing wrong with it was the ever so slighty sensationalist title that only mentioned the most negative possibility presented in the body.

I'm gonna be honest and say I'm a little too inebriated and didn't read the article. But MNC will be awesome!! Mark my word(s)......AWESOME!

Yup, Sounds like he only became a journalist to play games early. A real journalist wouldn't talk like that about a game they haven't played yet.

    I'm glad he didn't get a key.

He even stated the likeliest scenario is that Uber just wants journalists to play amongst everyone else, so they're not stuck in some multiplayer drought before release. I can totally understand this, as I often read reviews that say "well, we played the game 2 days before release so we weren't able to connect to a match to try out the multiplayer."

With such a multiplayer focused game, that makes sense, and they even give Uber the benefit of the doubt. The only real problem is the title.

Sadly real journalists write reviews full of unfounded opinions all of the time. I remember reading a published review from a major gaming site where the reviewer did not even finish the game (FFXIII). Gaming reviews are a business to sell magazines or improve internet traffic to a website and nothing more in most cases. Journalists used to actually have integrity but now they seem to sell out to the highest bidder (Gamespot anyone?). I understand that reviews are simply opinions but they are supposed to provide support for their claims, most lack even that currently.

Just to be a good sport, we put RunDLC on our press list and are gong to send them a code and let them judge the game instead of speculating on it. :)

So wait, if Id've run a negative review on The Naked Gamer I couldve gotten a code?

Im sad now. Sad that I didnt judge the game in a less than stellar light.

Oh and to clarify I dont mean this changes my opinion of Uberent or MNC, I just dont like seeing bad behavior rewarded. It sets a precedent that that guy may use in the future.

"If I complain on my site about not getting x from x company and strawman it into the product being bad, perhaps I will get said product for free."

Once again, it shows a lack of journalistic integrity, and its been rewarded.

I agree, If anything Uber should file a complaint.

Its called taking the high road.

Uber did the right thing and just took care of the situation. Filing complaints, leaving the guy out of the loop, etc would all just exacerbate the problem.

They handled it the way any good business would. Good job Uber!

I agree partly, on one hand I can see your point, on the other there are so many other small time media people like myself and others who have like I said whether theyve played MNC or not, given the game a fair chance who are left out of the loop.

The original article was most probably just to get hits anyway, it's a sad business to be in imo.
