Modding tools - What will we be able to achieve?

    You've said in the "network" thread that custom server will be able to run mods.

    Does that mean that you are not planning to support mods on ubernet servers ?

    I think you need to ask yourself what it means to say 'Uber will support mods on their servers'

    They're running exactly the same server software we would, so of course they 'support' mods - it's just that the host chooses what mod to run. I imagine that Uber would want to promote their vision of the game, so therefore they'd run stock servers. I also imagine that if someone comes up with an awesome game improving mod, that Uber would look at it and go 'yeah, this has appeal for EVERYONE, we'll add it as a mod to our server'.

    Kind of like Linux I guess.

    The situation may be even cooler and more complex than this. A lot of the work we are doing is trying to figure out ways for mods to work together and figure out ways to configure the server from within the lobby. Not sure of the extent but mods are definitely foremost in our thinking (without mods we could probably cut the engineering cost on this game significantly).

    There are no words to express my thankfulness for your emphasis on mods, in an industry where many Devs/Pubs view the players as some kind of enemy, it refreshing to see you just treating us as actual Contributers!

    Thanks again and seems I have more reasons to be glad I backed this every week.

    This isn't just some random game... this is the spiritual successor to the greatest RTS ever and it merits special consideration.

    Neutrino can you add an information tab for the selected server which shows which mod is used on it?
    Many games doesnt had that feature and the server list appears to be empty or nearly every server is unjoinable.

    Exactly the reason why I wanted to back PA, you guys just love to make that game and I could really instantly notice that when I first saw the KS.
