    Even though this is about art.. I'll throw up a very early prototype of the map that eventually became the Spunky Cola arena.

    so based off of the styling of the bridge, spunky was designed before the game ever released?

    Maps go through tons of iterations early on and what Scathis posted was a map we had before shipping on 360 that after we shipped was finished and turned into Spunky.

    We tried a ton of different map styles before we released MNC. When we decided to do Spunky as the first DLC I decided to try to resurrect this map from our pile of test maps.

    Assassin continued:



    Helmet variations:
    I really wanted to keep her with a 3 eye look so these are some of the variations Raf came up with.


    We ended up picking a variation of C3 minus the attachments on her jaw to make the jawline read cleaner and streamlined.

    During our prototyping phase, we went from shurikens the size of saw blades to a Needle gun ideas like the ones below. Eventually, we combined the ideas into a saw blade sized shuriken launcher

    wow all of those shuriken (or other) launchers look really good

    was the needle gun idea dropped because of the need for a ricochet weapon for the assassin? or was that after establishing the shuriken launcher as her weapon?

    and what happened with the jetpack(?) idea as seen on the model sheet?

    The ricochet came later after deciding to go with a shuriken launcher. The main reason we went away from a needler was for legibility. They were hard to see. As for jetpack, every character had a jetpack at one point and we went away from that idea during development.

    I'm assuming the Assassin didn't have the smoke bomb jump when she had the jet pack?

    You said a while ago that the tank was originally gonna have a skill where he had some kind of force field that pushed things away from him. What other if any skills/abilities did the rest of the mnc cast have that you decided against?

    Also i hate you for not giving the tank that skill!

    The push back Tank effect just felt bad. There were other abilities like Robotech style missile launchers on Gunner deploy that we never got working right.
