MNC: Draft Edition

Oxyteam kidnapped my children over Christmas. They only had one demand. I think you can guess what it was.

I'll be serious. Your detractors nominated you for laughs. I thought it over and came to the conclusion that it was actually a good idea. You see, this tournament, if you haven't figured it out yet, is about bringing the MNC community together, and it just so happens that you're the face of the gamefaqs community.

If you want your name withdrawn as captain, just let me know. I'll understand. But if you don't think I respect you as a player, go ahead and draft me. I'll be happy to play on your team.

I can play assault, gunner, and syn but I prefer the other classes.

I understand. No, I DO want to be captain since alot of my friends are in on the mix and I've brought a few names over. I kind of think my team might get singled out though because of me but I can rest assured I'm going to try to win games. Either way this is for fun.

Any word on how the drafting for players goes??? Names out of a hat? Captains picks 1 player at a time so players are evenly handed out? Players vote which captain they want?

The only responsible system for picking is a Rock, Paper, and Scissors tournament, to be held in standard double-elimination bracket format, certified by the Nevada Athletic Commission. Or just throw jelly babies at a piece of paper with names on it.. either way.

I will pick names out of a hat to determine draft order (jelly babies might be involved, whatever they are). To be fair, the captain who gets to pick first in the first round will pick last in the second round and so on.

Players will be drafted. They will have no say in what team they get on. Players will, however, get to vote for captains.

If this thing is seriously going down, then I think that you need a way to keep in touch with people that have signed up to make sure that they don't forget about it or just lose interest. My recommendation would be to send a PM to everyone asking for what they consider their two or three best classes, as well as their email address. After that, you can send updates as far as captain voting, team selection, and scheduling goes. Email will allow those that have signed up but don't frequent the forums to stay in the loop.

Also, how about capping it at 96 players (16 teams)? I'd recommend still making a note of interested players after #96, so we can have some alternates for the inevitable no shows.

Sniper/Assault and sometimes assassin. I have a good assassin, I just rarely use her.

That would allow for exactly 6 players per team. I think teams need to have 8 players to allow for dropouts and scheduling issues. Captains would obviously choose who is starting for each match.

Well, if we did that then the extra two picked would be from the bottom of the barrel, and if the first six show up then it's unlikely they'll see any playtime. That means one of every four people signed up won't get a chance to play if the rest of their team show up. I'd say six players per team, but have a pool of maybe 20 or so players that could be drawn from for last minute substitutions.

Ah how sweet, you're trying to include everybody.

That would be a decent solution as well. Only problem with that is the pool of subs wouldn't really care which team won so you might not get as much teamwork from them.

I'm not saying either solution is better, but I think we need to be careful when forming teams that we allow for the possibility of people dropping out and/or not being able to make certain league games.

I'm interested if there is still time to register.
