Oops... Probably I need to sleep a bit more. Thanks for fixing me, it's just some Linux-specifics mixed in my head with Windows one. Yep, you don't need SWAP on Windows for hibernation, but it's still required for proper crash dumps.
It seems that the problem is solved here is a picture with 500+++ planes in a big patrol round + many buildings in que and 1500 planes more to build....
Page file usage seems much better now: If you met some problems again check your DxDiag for this info, probably it's will grow.
Actually it's totally okay, I never seen PA use more than 8GB RAM in game (not planet editor I mean). I really think that's your problem wasn't related to RAM at all, but to some issue related to page file.
4.5GB and rising, the Planes laggs now, 1000 or so out patrolling, panning, scrolling and planetary rotation is normal (yet) Playing against 1 AI, while typing the mem usage on PA is up to 4.6GB and rising. it is so cool that the game don't crash at this rate
You can press "Ctrl+P" and see game FPS. I totally sure you mean planets movement are choppy, it's not because your hardware, but because network bandwidth limitation. I can say it's won't crash at 9 and 12GB too.
3000+ planes on patrol, 10FPS, 8.7GB memory usage. And still playable It really seems the problem was solved after edited a custom Page file
It's should lag (i mean on server side) like a hell Also when you decide to stop your testing, try to quit (not to menu, but completely), run it again and reconnect to server. Then check what FPS and memory usage is.
269 minutes,Think I will stop testing now. i have past 4000 planes on patrol and 9.1GB usage of ram, down to 8FPS and now it is laggy supreme commander style at max but this was fun. perhaps double up to 2 x GTX 690 will do the trick?
Did as you said. I was rejected some times from the server after restart PA but when i came in a new game the memory usage is only 1.6 GB at start. ( only spawned the commander)
Don't think so, there is no proper SLI/CFX support at moment. Also I really doubt if your GTX 690 was used for 100% because it's dual chip GPU and it's just like hardware SLI actually.
Too bad, it's was interesting to know how it's will work after reconnect. When I test it myself my memory usage was ~5.5GB and after restart it's was something like ~4.5GB This is totally normal number, it's memory used by map generator currently (probably store some textures too).
trying to upload a video of how it looks, but the video quality is not good, but give some impression of how about 4000 planes looks on patrol (laaaaaaaagggggggyyyyyyy) http://www.twitch.tv/kennyball81/b/439272196
