It would make little sense to try to fly in one. Never minding Cloud City, gas giant are really, really windy. As in "rip the flesh of your bones, then shatter the bones" windy.

I would not mind spotty gas giants. Maybe you can only build them over storm centers or some such.?

Not sure increasing the size alone would solve it. As thick as you can pack them now they are inredibly vulnerable vs nukes.

Turtling up with stacked jigs and anchors on gas giants is not a problem and is easily countered by nukes. I still think nukes should not counter orbital layer anyways. The thing that is a problem is avengers stacking up and you just cannot tell how many there are until you fight them. This negates intel that you would normally have from vision or orbital radar and seems unfair to me. Also they are far more effective in combat.

And yes get 20 orbital engineers split them into groups of 5 each group building 20 jigs and you have a very very big runaway economy problem that seemingly does not stop. It gets worse when you only need to spam one unit to defend your gas planet. I dont think you should make the actual jig model bigger but somehow make the space that they take up bigger. Like eye of Rihanne in supreme commander forged alliance tiny structure huge base.
