Okay one more time, making it clearer:

    Minimum:
    • OS:Windows Vista SP2 64-bit
    • Processor:32 or 64-bit Dual Core or better
    You can't have a 64-bit OS running on a 32-bit only CPU.

So the minimum specs do say you need a 64-bit OS already, which I think is good. But they also don't make sense because the processor requirement contradicts the OS requirement.

Ah! Sorry being a bit slow there. I thought the 32bit OS was still an option

Well, 32-bit OS is still an option, as far as I'm aware. As to why you'd ever actively choose that option over 64-bit is something beyond my comprehending.

Perhaps they assumed you'd already updated your drivers (we're pretty hot on telling people that on the forum!). Anyway hopefully it will help a bit :)

Would be nice to hear if you've made any progress.

P.S. I'm only now starting to read page 2 so sry if you have already posted about it.

EDIT: Skimmed through. Yea keep he updates coming. Any feedback us low memory users can provide to help along?

I've tallied about 210MB reduction so far. We should open a book.

$5 to enter, guess the RAM reduction before 19th September, winner takes all!

I'm betting 860mb reduction from the release build when running the PAX system.

Well, perhaps you miscalculated. After installing the driver, my game now runs slower.

That's very strange...?! It might be worth checking to see if any settings have been changed (the game sometimes looses the graphics settings for instance)? Also have a quick look in Catalyst and make sure nothing is forced on like Anti Aliasing or Vsync?

Also in what way is it 'slower'? In the lobby, or in game? By how much are we talking (probably something Varrak needs to know about if in game fps are dropping with a newer driver)...

Ok so what FPS are you getting at game start (to check press cntrl + P and look at 'client fps' at the top)? How much slower are we talking here?

I dont know what it was before but now its 16 fps in the lobby
I don't want to launch a game because the lag is pretty infuriating

Varrak, any chance you could help- updating drivers shouldn't hurt performance?

No, it shouldn't. And you shouldn't be seeing 16fps in the lobby. Try and get into a galactic war game and see how it looks?

@varrak Sadly I have integrated graphics, and only 4GB of RAM. PA uses 98% of my RAM regularly especially when loading into the game, lobby generating planets loads very quickly. But when going into the game, game freezes and I barely get in when or right after commanders drop... This isn't really system size specific, small systems, large systems, I end up getting in around the same time..

So yeah, reducing RAM usage would be amazing as the game takes forever to load systems because of crazy pagefiling. :p
