As long as they're just queries he's running, we should be fine Also, signing myself up to be a potential future slave. Only just started on the tracker, but I intend to do more.
That could be a bit draconian. While it isn't preferable for duplicates to be made, it isn't hard to do. An example would be the task I just closed, guy was thinking the textures were broken so searched for textures. What he needed to search for was something that would pick up the title "Planet creation incomplete". When I do searches, I just go for a key word of what is affected, like "planet" in this case. Narrows the tasks down pretty good. Anyway, other than being a duplicate, it was very detailed and a great report. I happy for more of that! Sometimes I'd like to close the task a task is a duplicate of, because the duplicate is much more informative. What might be good is a way to tag people so other mods can see the usual suspects, though I haven't noticed any serial duplicators really. Maybe on someone who consistently makes tasks lacking in any detail.
In those cases it's better for you to copy the information into the first bug report (including downloading and re-uploading files). Now I understand that's work for you, but you did volunteer in the first place; might as well do it right.
Is there any reason why the lower ID should stay open? If the newer post contains far more info and no discussion happened on the lower ID I don't see why closing the lower ID is bad.
"Protocol", one point to access all duplicates. It's also the first reported occurrence and thus has "historical" value in the sense you can see how long a bug has been around.

Hey guys, Now that Mac on Linux builds are out, I think the tracker could use 1 or 2 additional moderators with know-how on such OS'es. I know my way around them, but I'm in no way extremely experienced. Any takers? Lennard
Sure, I can help you out with Linux. I'm also reasonably familiar with Mac, but I don't currently have access to one directly.
I am up for being an OSX tracker volunteer. (Could also do Win/Linux, but do not have hardware that has enough GPU to run any game
Tracker admins - don't ask for a ticket to be closed just because a google search shows isssues/errrors coming up for other things. In the mix'n'match world we're in - where software isn't written from the ground up and software houses use libs or services provided by other companies - you're going to see errors reported that do appear elsewhere with all sorts of causes. It doesn't make your role easy - but its the way the dice roll :/
mods and admins to not request closure of tasks, they just close them Anybody can make such requests with a button that is in the upper right corner of all tasks. Since you are probably talking about FS#1308: I was unsure about it, but your reasoning here makes sense, so I denied that request.
Don't know if you're looking for any new mods at the moment, but I've seen a lot of issues I'd like to fix/improve (horribly vague Bug Titles, incorrect dupe closures, unrelated bug discussions that should be moved). 6-yr IT professional with industry experience (AI/GUI programmer, 1 yr). I'll keep being active on the tracker until such time that I might qualify for consideration.
I'm all for it, haven't been using the tracker long, but I've already seen enough dupes and invalid posts to wanna help out. Give me a shout if ur still looking for people.
