I've been experiencing lots of crashing during matches. I looked at the logs and they said that crash dumps were being uploaded (so have been patiently waiting for it to be fixed). Recently I ran the game from the command-line to see if it would help myself diagnose the problem and saw the following: Code: Upload limit reached Which I've read[1] means you guys have not been receiving the dumps? So here[2] are a couple of crash dumps for you to inspect. Reconnection and reviewing the same point in chronocam causes the game to crash again. I'm using the steam version of the game with the included steam runtime libraries. Contrary to what was said in the above link, the forum does not allow crash dumps to be uploaded directly. PPS. Apologies for mistakenly not posting under the "Mac and Linux" section.
It will be really helpful if you provide your system information, e.g: In Steam window -> top menu bar -> click "Help" -> click "System Information" Any idea what crash related for?
Also as far as I see in crash dump you using __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATIONS=1. Can you try to run game without this option and check if it's continue to crash? When I tested PA on Nvidia this option help with performance, but I suppose it's still experimental on Linux so it's something that can actually cause problems with game.

Apologies for the delay, I have family over for Easter and hadn't had the time. I've now disabled/removed __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATIONS and am still experiencing game crashes (and also sometimes PA stops responding while using ~1% of one core). If I can provide more helpful info or you have more ideas please let me know. Update: I tried running the game without Steam & the runtime libraries but still had the same issue (see [1] for the crash dumps). [1]: sendspace.com/filegroup/gER4VN+w6DJjVmzmaybHGQ
No problem at all, it's fine. I suppose at moment it's good idea to wait till next update because there will be tons of changes in new version of game. If crashes appear again I'll ask devs to check what wrong.
I've now tested with 64498 and have already experienced a crash. I seems like the crash dump was successfully uploaded to you guys but here it is (and another) if you'd like investigate.
I pushed link to this topic to devs so when they'll check it when have time for that. There should be more improvements for Linux support in future so possible your isses will be fixed too.
That's fantastic news. I'm absolutely loving this game and look forward to helping the devs find the cause of this issue.
66943 (nvidia driver: v337.25): crash dump. Like I said previously, crash dumps are successfully being automatically submit now. So if posting here's not helping, let me know (otherwise I'll happily continue).
Wow, five download buttons on that page and only one of those is correct. You can actually upload the crash dumps directly to the forum if you compress them as ZIP. Sorry that I don't have anything more constructive to say about what is causing the crashes, but I thought you would like to know this for easier uploading.
I only hope that @jorgenpt will have some time to check those because there only few devs who can check Linux crash dumps. Wow, person who don't using adblock!
Today I've found lobbies that crash upon joining (issue with generating planets?). Attached is a couple of crash dumps from trying to join the same lobby twice.
n00n, what build of the game are you running? Are you running from stable? What does this command show? Code: readelf -n "$HOME/.local/Uber Entertainment/Planetary Annihilation"/*/PA | grep "Build ID"
I suppose he's running latest stable version though Steam. I think this way because his crash dumps contain that path: Code: /var/lib/steam/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Planetary Annihilation/PA
Good point. n00n, can you run the following in a terminal instead? Code: readelf -n /var/lib/steam/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Planetary Annihilation/PA | grep "Build ID" For some strange reason, the build ID for the executable in the crash dump doesn't match the one I have for stable, which is why I'm asking.
Sorry for not including. Yes, it's still the latest stable via Steam: 66943. In Steam it says: "Current content BuildID: 289176". Code: Build ID: 61665e6bd3c7408e6a4548ece4d3f8da773b9714
