It'd actually make sense to have a reduced vision radius for units in the dark. It'd add a bit more strategy.

And there could be units that provide light for a group, thus an added vision radius, either directional ones with longer sight but in one direction only, or a unit with 360 light output, but at a smaller radius. Or both. (t1 circular, t2 directional?)

the idea wasn't to have anything game play changing, just a new way of having contrast, by lighting up the dark side of the planet with a whole bunch of spot lights, wire neon lights all that goodness.

it's be a great opportunity to draw links between buildings, even if they don't matter.

How about we put some more contrast in there first?
    *cough* https://forums.uberent.com/threads/awesome-night-bug.60130/page-6#post-935936 *cough*

Seriously, does anyone even disagree (except for the developers which obviously do) that the contrasty version looks worse? We have been told over and over again that lights on units and buildings will be more noticeable and we will get more contrasty planets - and now everything is being dropped again...
