    Suggestion: Halve Centurion fire rate from 4 to 2

    Justification copied from a long Discord rant:


    The Anchor has two anti-orbital weapons that each fire 2 times per second for 65 damage per shot. They both have limited firing arcs and almost never overlap on the same target. Effectively, an Anchor kills 2 Avengers per second in most situations, and occasionally kills 4 Avengers per second in an ideal circumstance. Versus higher health targets, the Anchor usually achieves 2 * 65 = 130 damage per second.

    In testing, we actually found that it was quite hard to position an orbital factory relative to an Anchor such that both weapons could fire at it at the same time; it is unrealistic to consider the double-fire scenario on a single target as a common occurrence.

    In contrast, the Centurion has 1 anti-orbital weapon that fires 4 times per second for 65 damage per projectile, but ALSO fires TWO PROJECTILES PER ATTACK. The Centurion weapon has full rotation. These two projectiles usually go for the same target, so this is overkill versus Avengers. Thus, the Centurion almost always kills 4 Avengers per second, but in some bizarre ideal case might achieve 8 Avengers per second. Versus higher health targets, the Centurion always achieves 8 * 65 = 520 damage per second. This is FOUR TIMES the damage of an Anchor vs a single high-health target. The Centurion's turret rotates slower than the Anchor's, but it is still fast enough to home on to Avengers before the Avengers even get close to range.


    In my old mod, I didn't do proper testing and simply recommended:
    Projectiles per fire: 2 -> 1​

    However, even with this change, the Centurion simply becomes identical to the ideal case for the Anchor.

    Alternatively, reducing the Centurion attack speed from 4 to 2 while keeping the current projectile count causes the following situation:
    1. The ideal case Anchor will have the same sustained single-target damage as the Centurion
    2. In a normal case, the Anchor and Centurion will kill the same amount of Avengers per second
    3. In an ideal case, the Anchor will kill twice as many Avengers per second as the Centurion.​

    Therefore, I recommend:
    Centurion fire rate: 4 -> 2

    Other interesting addendum: Avengers and Vipers have different attack patterns (this makes sense), and Vipers have 100 health. Because of the Avenger attack pattern, a sufficient amount of Avengers will eventually usually trigger the Anchor's ideal case when some of them fly to the opposite side of the Anchor. In contrast, the Viper very rarely triggers the Anchor's ideal situation.

    Therefore, an Anchor usually kills 1 Viper per second (requiring 2 shots per Viper), and only occasionally kills 2 Vipers per second.

    In contrast, the current Centurion always kills 4 Vipers per second; my suggested change would result in the Centurion only killing 2 Vipers per second.

    Planetary Annihilation Inc has kindly agreed to include the Legion Expansion within its translation programme. This means all the PA languages with professional translations will include strings for Legion too. The thanks of the Legion team go out to all those who have contributed to the translations up until now, allowing more people to experience this mod. Subsequent releases will begin to remove the fan translations as the official ones are shipped.
