If all you had to do was drop the moneyball's shields to win, then your argument would make a little more sense.
Shooting a downed money ball is in essence, like scoring points. Score more points and your team wins.
If your ball is down it's not an instant loss. The other team still has to "outscore" you.

A good comparison to a real sport would be to football, only with a point cap, where the offensive and defensive lines are playing at the same time.

Even in sports, for the most part, there's really only one way to win:
shoot the ball into the hoop/net/endzone more times than the other guy.
That's basically what this game is only replace ball with bullets and net with ball.

OK, you seriously need to learn to read. Not once have I said that I dislike overtime. I was stating that saying you need to get better has nothing to do with his complaint. Attacking me for something I have never said is just dumb. Also, you said you don't think it is supposed to be fun. Clearly in contrast with what you just posted. Why would any developer put something into a game that they did not think was fun? This is a recreational video game.

Secondly, I posted a general statement about what people have said. You decided this meant you, when you did not say this. I don't know why you did that. Lets think about this for a minute. Who do you think that sentence was intended for? The person who DID say it, or the person who didn't? Lets walk through it again. Who DID say it? Who DIDN'T say it? Do I need to go through it a third time?

Honestly isn't the problem that the ball automatically drops during overtime?

    Interesting, isn't it?

Overtime was put into the game to end any match that has gone above the time limit. It is there to end the game. I'll say it once more. Overtime is there to end the game. You know what Overtime does? It ends the game. Did Uber try to make it fun? Yes. Did it work? I think it did. I think Overtime is an important part of MNC and I think that if you don't like it either end the game quicker or stop playing MNC.

I'm going to be ignoring any post made by you in the future because I think you never add to the discussion. I suggest you do the same to me.

He wasn't even attacking you, and didn't even say that you didn't like overtime. You need to learn when someone is attacking you and when someone isn't.

The beautiful thing about forums is that they're public, so anyone can answer your question or respond to a concept, just like I'm doing now. If you only want one person to respond, PM them or something.

Lets have a bit of fun.
Did you even read the post? I said a general statement that clearly was not referring to him. He decided to take that statement as directed at him, and answered as if I had said he specifically did something. Why would people continually respond to things in the first person as if it was directed towards them when it clearly was not.

Also, Billy, I've been ignoring your posts for a long time, don't worry.

I also have no problem with overtime. I have won and lost in overtime and have juice rushed and been juice rushed during overtime. I don't know why people want the game to go 30 minutes. I like being able to finish a game, grab a drink, go to the restroom or whatever, have 2 or 3 more games before then next break and repeat. When It keeps going 17 minutes it gets tiring for me.

If you really care, then get into competitive MNC. Most likely, the rules will change to exclude overtime with the leading team winning the match, and the match will be replayed if it ends in a tie.

Okay. It sounded like you were yelling at him because he responded to your post, instead of him responding as though you were talking to him. My bad.

And here we go with the epeen, Me > You mantality.

    Kinky.

I'm not really against the current overtime mechanic, since as stated before, it's there purely to end the game, although I personally think the "you should be preparing for overtime" argument is pure bull **** since all it amounts to is whoring your cash, but that's a different issue. That said, we should at the very least try out a game mode where the team with the most damage to the money ball is the victor, might be better than what we currently have, although dragging it out to 30 minutes would be overkill for some people.

We're going to be able to do that in custom games once the DLC hits right?

    1) I honestly don't care about my "epeen"

    2) Whoring your cash? Do you mean hording or did you honestly mean whoring? If you meant hording. It doesn't take long for me to rack up $500 to buy juice, especially near the end of the game. By then I will typically have $1000, and there is no more skills I need and the base has enough turret around to protect it so I buy a handful of bots now and then, but mostly I forget to as that would cause me to run back to my base while I'm pressing the attack.

If you really did mean whoring, well that is what cash is for, to be spent. I have no moral objection with spending monopoly money on juice.

Even when i win in OT, i feel it the entire game was pointless up to that point as the money ball was destroyed in 5sec, with no teamwork or anything.

Overtime is complete bull **** plain and simple.

Everything that's occurred up until then is thrown out the window as the new goal becomes "F*ck defense. SPAM JUICE!!!!"

This isn't enjoyable, or satisfying. The only reason it would be is if you pull a victory straight out of your *** when you've been cornered the entire game, or if you barely managed to juice harder on the money ball than the other team did.

Either take overtime out, period (makes more sense anyways), or put more emphasis on the goal of the game: Pushing bots, destroying turrents. They should make the jackbots akin to the ones late into blitz mode that walk much faster, and maybe add the health. And, do NOT drop the moneyball. This is what breaks it in the end. The point of the game is dropping the moneyball. When it's dropped for you, the game is near nonexistent.

The only people that would defend such a broken mechanic are those who are able to consistently use it to their advantage, or those under the "It's in the game, it's perfect, adapt" mentality.

Overtime is a NEW section of the game therefore everything that has happen before then doesn't matter. The point of Regulation Crossfire is to escort your bots to the enemy base to drop the shields then destroy the Moneyball. The point of Overtime in Crossfire is to quickly end the game. Dropping the shields and only spawning Jackbots helps with that factor.

I get it though, no other game has Overtime so people are not used to it. I don't see how it is broken though. It works the way it was intended.

Lets see with the Free DLC the Juice machines will be put on a global timer just like the Annihilator.

In other words, Overtime is an entirely different game altogether. Well, that's nice, except if you're winning the first game, the results of the entire game should not be shoved under "...everything that has happened before then doesn't matter." With that mentality, then why play the game at all? Oh, right, because it's fun.... until Overtime.

I don't see the instructions or tutorial stating that once OT starts, the **** has hit the fan, and you should book it. There's not Regulation Crossfire. There's Crossfire. Overtime happens to be a part of Crossfire. A part that many seem to think is poorly implemented.

I you wish to end the game, then ******* end it. The rules state that whichever team has more health wins. Why would this be thrown out the window? If you did better, you should win, plain and simple. Getting rid of Overtime would do nothing except make it more fair.

No other game has Overtime. Fair enough. Maybe it was considered, but never implemented for a reason. Even if it's a completely original idea, saying you've never been introduced to it before does little to defend it. Having several months dealing with it, I can still say it's bull ****.

And, you say it's not broken because it works the way it's intended. O RLLY? Then why was a listed (attempt at a) fix in the first update supposed to lessen the effectiveness of juice rushing?

Uber's done a great job of listening to the community. Keeping that in mind, maybe it's because the community doesn't like it.

If it works the way it's intended, great. If the way it's intended to work is broken, and this isn't realized until several thousand people play it and say so, then it's broken.

And, as you say in the end, there's yet ANOTHER fix to in regards to juicing. Well, clearly this is done because drinking so much juice is unhealthy for you, right?

I mean, it's not like they continued to listen to the community, and are continuing attempts at fixing such a broken mechanic, right? Because, the way it is now is how they wanted it. If the community, the customers, and the players hate a part of the game, well, obviously they don't know what the hell they're talking about.

People always seems to say "If it works as intended".. its not broken.. thats not what it entirely means.. Im sure Uber didnt "intend" OT Juicing to upset many people, which it does. Many things change that ARE working as Intended, but in essence were broken because they didn't work 'correctly'.

Simple Fix, make Juice un-buyable in OT.

Uber didn't change anything with the first patch so it's safe to say OT isn't going anywhere.

Simple Fix. Juice is going to be on a Global Timer, just like the Annihilator, once the DLC is released.

Also there is going to be a new 'Private Match' option that will allow you change the length of OT and you can even shut it off.

The problem is not Overtime. The problem is Juice which is fixed this time around.

Firstly, yes. In the first patch, an attended to issue was reduced damage on the moneyball by juiced players in Overtime, to lessen the effectiveness of "Juice rushing". The fact that you decline to even verify this before saying otherwise shows your ignorance.

    http://www.uberent.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2370

    Take a good look genius.

Second. If you had read my first post on the issue, you'd notice that I have issues with overtime's mechanics. Not overtime itself.

Whoopty they slightly reduced the amount of extra damage the Moneyball in OT take. Not damage from "Juiced Players," damage in general. They did not change OT at all. Did they really "lessen the effectiveness of "Juice rushing" in OT? The change was so miniscule that barely anyone even noticed. I guess I should have added more thought into my first sentence.

"Uber didn't change how OT works with the first patch so it's safe to say OT isn't going anywhere."

    There is that better?

Face it. OT is a new section of the match. If you are winning before OT and you lose during OT, sorry to say, but that's a user error.

and that's all the thought I'm going to put into this post. OT is here to stay, in public game, so get over it and get used to it. You can all say my arguments mean nothing but I don't care.

This is not the first, or even third, thread about OT so this discussion is nothing new to anyone.

    DeadStretch,

I'm not sure you are quite getting what RandomDude is attempting to say. The exact things you are saying about it are exactly what he dislikes.
Whether you agree with him or not is one matter. However, saying it is user error is not addressing the point of his argument. He is not complaining that he lost a match because of this. He is saying the mechanics of OT juice rush are not fun to him.

Additionally, I know it is somewhat irritating when new threads continually pop up about the same topics. That happens in every forum though, as people are not going to re-read everything or search the forum for every thread that has already addressed the issue.

Finally, I think we should all start veering away from using the "It's here to stay, so why talk about it" argument. There are many things that are not going to be changed that are discussed, to try and eliminate their discussion would eliminate the purpose of this forum.
